I have what I thought a equador pink that I had traded for about 2 years ago..well last year it didnt bloom so I have been babying it..well it bloomed and I find out its an orange bloom.....I am sooo disappointed...I havent mixed up the tags so it must have been a mistake on the part of the trader....Judy
I am sooooo dissapointed
Don't be! As Judy has shown us, color can be very subjective. There are so many variables that can affect color such as water (minerals and salts in it), the food you feed it and even the age of the bloom! The first may look totally different from the next one, so wait for a few more to show up before you dispair!

Oh Judy, I know the feeling. I thought I had Tatiana and it turned out to be a small pink hybrid with suav. in it with the telltale cropped tendrils. That one was never going to change into Tatiana. LOL And I got that from a reputable seller but as a gift. The good news was that when all else was struggling with our uncommon heat wave, that small pink was blooming well and was so entertaining. It still has to die though. LOL
And it is true what X has said, color changes so much esp. as the weather changes here for some brugs. PINKS are esp. affected. I have even have had brugs look so different their second year from their first, like a whole new brug.
That being said, in all the pictures I have seen of EP, they all show the EP broad shoulders and a bit longer tendrils then yours so I am in doubt yours will come around but you never know.
I have never liked EP's shape myself, but it can be pretty. Mine is always almost white and kind of drippy looking. It likes warmer weather than I have I figure but EP did live outside great all last winter. I was so surprised it survived with just some winter bark.
Well most of my brugs are just starting to set buds since the temps at night are alot cooler then it has been all summer....I was thinking maybe it was our weather making the pink turn orange but it looks more like versi peach then anything else...I will watch the next set of blooms and after that I will be looking for a replacement.....I so wanted to see pink...lol...I have only had isabella, miss anna and tropical sunset give me some blooms so far....the rest are starting to show some buds so maybe by October I will have a yard full of bloosoms.....Judy
The brug pictured is not a EP. A Peach will never turn into a Pink or vice versa. The micro climate never has such a impact on Brugmansia, that it changes a flower into a complete different color. The color may be paler as ususal but thats all.
Wait until all your brugs are blooming and you may find the EP among them.
Monika, this is the brug that I took a picture last year of the clump of stuff growing next to the trunk...its like its hooked to the main stem and just sits there...somebody last year told me that equador does that sometimes...but I agree I dont think its equador either......judy
Kell Tatiana isnt released yet...
That is true, Elva. Donna is waiting till she hears back from those she gave it to, to trial before she releases it. I reported back, mine was not Tatiana. LOL! It is so easy to get brugs mixed up when not in flower. These things happen! My second Tatiana did not come directly from Donna, thus the mix up. Maybe my 3rd try will be the charm. LOL
Judy, are you talking about this weird cluster thing? I get them on varied brugs, none on my EPs though. I do not know the trigger.
Kell the cluster is in the soil a few inches from the brug..I cant remember who told me last year that they had an EPlike that so I just figured it was an EP..the tag said EP so I didnt question it..I dont even thnk its a versi from looking at it now..oh welllll another one to bite the dust....Judy
Thanks, Kell )o;
The Tatiana I sent you was my 1 of 2 cuttings from Donna.
I did NOT get it mixed up!!!
I am really tired of hearing this criticism today )o;
From now on I will not grow any other brugs but my own.
Alice
Judy,
If you want Equador Pink as I got it in the early 1990s, I will send it to you.
I will be getting rid of it.
It originated from NHE.
Let me know.
Alice
My Equador Pink is NEVER white.
My so called Tatitana NEVER blooms small.
As of now though, that does not matter.
Alice
