I saw this at Kartuz Greenhouse and it was labeled as Curcuma Rainbow. Mr. Kartuz said it was a very special ginger. Does anyone know if it is Curcuma aurantiaca ‘Rainbow’? The leaves have a deep maroon stripe down the middle.

THANKS

Hey Donna. I wish I could remember what Mike called it. He has greenhouses of beautiful plants but he took me out one 1 GH to walk down to where this one was, just to see it in flower. He was very excited about it.

I have ordered from him before. He has some nice stuff but takes forever to get them lol

The foliage sure looks like Raspberry but the inflorescence not quite. there could be many collected from wild and have a little bit of a different look to them. It's definitely not any form of aurantiaca (Rainbow). Is this the first time this has sent up an inflorescence for you? sometimes the first year isn't quite up to what it will look like later as the plant matures.
Here's a picture of one my 'Raspberries' Sfter that I will post an aurantiaca.
Sorry I couldn't have been of more help.

foliage on aurantiaca is ribbed, large, wide, & oblong, lookes almost like someone took it and folded it accordian style and then released it.
