Yeah Connie!! I am having my own trouble getting motivated this morning too. The back is not cooperating this morning so I am moving slow. I did sleep really good last night however. And we are suspose to be under 100 degrees today!!! Sill would hope for rain too. Have a good day with the kiddos!

I heard Amarillo got a ton of storms/rain and it was only 80 yesterday. My cousins must have been happy! We have a 20% chance of isolated showers. oy vey.

According to KXAN:

More 100 degree heat baked Central Texas Tuesday, and temperatures this month are now on pace to make this one of, if not the hottest August on record in Austin.

Temperatures may moderate a few degrees Wednesday through Sunday as the upper high pressure system shifts west, but it will remain very hot.

There will be a slight chance for showers Wednesday as weak disturbances move around the perimeter of the high pressure ridge.

We had high winds and heavy rains overnight here. Several of my larger pot plants got blow around and over. One big plumeria wound up in the pool. I figure it's a goner since it was saturated with chlorine water. A few limbs down here and there, but no major problems. Hope y'all all have a good day.

Here in Madison County we just got a few sprinkles. Just enough to dampen the porch. All dry by this morning. But the temps are supposed to be a little lower today. Maybe only 94! We had a very heavy dew and it's really humid. I will pass on watering today. We have a 40% chance of showers this afternoon. I sure hope we get the rain.

We saw what we thought might be lightning last night way off to the north. Or I could be hallucinating! Other than that, hot and dry. We just came back from checking the water at the ranch and making sure no cows have bogged in trying to get to it. So far all the animals are doing well, eating dry grass and syrup supplement. Surely the high pressure dome over Central Texas will weaken eventually and let some of the rain come this way.

I wish... dry hot dry hot... I'm tired of it.

I just had a lovely time at the new outlet mall in Round Rock (only about 20 minutes from my house) with my mother. Good time, but dang it is hot. My outdoor thermometer says 100.2. Whew. Not a lot of clouds...where is the rain? Crow, can you send some up from Houston?

No pots blown over here just thunder so loud it rattled the windows. Just what I needed when I finally made it to bed at 11:30 and gotta wake up at 5:30. Oh well--no money to be made in whining.

We were on the short end again this afternoon. It started blowing and we could even hear the thunder; but it past to the south of us and we got nada. Glad some of you got so wet stuff.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

It showered for a few minutes an hour ago, but other than giving us hope that it has not forgotten how to rain, it was not enough to do any good. But there is a lot to be said for hope!

We folks in Austin got ZIP. Lots of sun...NO RAIN.

It is sad to see the duck pond that is close to our house. It is part of a creek that carries storm water off. It has three sections as it moves through the park, and two of those are now dry. The third has been picked clean by egrets looking for food. If it wasn't for local people feeding the ducks, I am sure they would be suffering a lot.

My roomates boyfriend went to the river and fed the ducks old bread he had. He said the ducks swarmed him and acted like they were starved. This weather can't be good for wildlife.

I know I would want to be in the sun in warm bath temp water, or fur coats or feathers this time of year.
