Hope to get some more pics of it tomorrow!
I do not think I have heard of Ambrosia, but that name sure sounds like it will smell great. It can get darker too as time goes by so you may be still be pleasantly surprised. I have some pink brugs that go from a light real pink color to a deep orange red by the time they are done. I have decided it is the water here that turns them to that orangey color. Some day I am going to have a true pink!! Though I may have to move. LOL
It looks like you are getting just great blooms. Mine are still sporadic.
When I got home from work, the high heat and humidity did most of the pink blooms in!!
I wished I could have seen them on the second day in bloom! They just seemed to melt!!!
Its been in the mid to high 90's with humidity 60's and dew piont in the seventys, real sultry!
I like it. The flowers has a pleasant shape.
Do you have some large bushes or trees, that you can use for shading your Brugmansia? Most hybrids tends to melt in the sun, but when they recieve a bit morning- and afternoon sun and remain in shade or semi-shade for the rest of the day, the flowers often last longer. I learned this the hard way LOL When we moved here four years ago, the first thing I did was to cut down most of the large trees on the property. That turned out to be a fatal mistake. The Brugmansia plants was left over to the mercyless sun, that melted the flowers ... and when it was overcast, the wind often tore the flowers apart. Even though, that we have a 1400 sqmeter property, only 300 sqmeters are suited for Brugmansia. I have planted a lot of fruit trees, since I cut down the large trees and hopefully the Brugmansia can be grown in other parts of the garden in a couple of years.
Tonny
Hi Tonny,
I have a couple large trees, but unfortunately they are on the north side of my property, and only provide shade for the neighbors yard.
Even on a cloudy day the heat index,is around 100*,they tend to melt also, these brugs are all betwee 5 to 10ft tall,my bananas give them some shade but not much.
Very nice looking flowers I didnt even see those plants when I was there! I've got mine where it gets about three hours of early sun and the rest of the day in shade!
Lucky you!!!
Begnr,have yous flowered yet????
No Tropicman mine have not bloomed yet . I hope they do soon though? This is the one you gave me three years ago so I can,t wait!
Give them the fertilizer I gave yo,they will bloom.
