...for your food, your hospitality and your generous spirit! When I posted the request for coastal Mississippi food, I had no idea of the kind of response I would get. We made the seafood boil, with beautiful, fresh shrimp, and it was outstanding. Even one of our coordinators, who was familiar with a "low country boil" loved it! Heck, even the kids liked it, a small miracle, in itself! Likewise, when we went down there for the church mission trip, I had no idea that we would encounter so many wonderful people. Unfortunately, since we were working in Pearlington all day, every day, I did not have a chance to get together with froggies_girl, but from our phone conversations, she's a dear, lovely person, with that same spirit of hospitality. Julie, you will never know how that invitation to dinner touched our hearts. You wanted us to take away good memories, not just memories of the devastation. Well, we have both kinds, but the ones that prevail are those of the resilience and kindness of the residents there. We definitely got more than we gave on this trip. We were grateful to have the opportunity to help out, and humbled by the generosity of everyone we encountered. We agreed that it was one of the best "vacations" that we've ever had. By the way, I printed out all the recipes in the "Coastal Mississippi food" thread, and plan to try all the rest of them, too! Thanks to all on DG, and to all the folks on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. I would go back in a heartbeat, but I think I'd prefer January to August! :-)
Love,
Bonnie
