Too late to start perennial MW seed for spring bloom?

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi everyone--

Does anyone in Zone 6 ever start Perennial Milkweed seed now (August), plant the new seedlings out late this fall, and then get an early crop of MW next spring/summer?

I was thinking of starting Asclepias tuberosa this way.

(I read on the "Monarch Watch" site that to have a certified Monarch Waystation you should have about 20 or more MW plants of at least 2 different varieties.... I don't have that many.)

Tobasco I can save you some of my milkweed seeds when it makes more. I have the curvassivica scarlet blood flower and silky gold. Not sure if they would be far enough along before you have a freeze in your area to start them now. You could over winter them inside though

Thanks, Donna--

I do have some curvassicvica seed in my box and also a few plants in the garden, so I am OK for right now on those. Thanks for the offer.

mmmm....Don't know if I'm up to overwintering them indoors (hadn't thought of that good idea), but maybe I can since I plant to overwinter my alocasias and lantanas anyway.

(p.s. I still have some other good BF and HB plant seeds left from the collection you sent me last spring to try out!)

For anyone interested in the Monarch Waystation 'requirements' here's a link and a Monarch Seed list and handy source:
