Look upper center right of picture, the mercury vapor light is over 10ft tall,PB brug is coming close to that height, blooms are about 7ft level, had to stand on my tip toes to reach the bottom of bloom.

Couldn't hold steady reaching that high just to hold the bottom of flower.

Don what a stunning brug. How tall do you leave them for the winter. I have two of my brugs that I am thinking about just cutting back to above the Y. Which would leave them about 5ft tall. Would this be crazy of me to do this?

Hagerstown, MD(Zone 6b)

Pink Beauty is a favorite of mine. I have 2 on either side of my swing and they put on a wonderful show earlier. Buds are just starting to form again after all the heat and humidity of summer.

Your welcome!
Linda,I cut mine to about 6 inches above the y,more if the y is lower down on the trunk.

Dott, mine too,I like those really large flowers!!!

Thanks Kell, but you have the pretty garden!!!I just have a rainforest!!!!
But I'm happy with it,makes feel That I've really got away from civilization!!!!

Thanks Breezy,I really have a hard time taking photos, had this camera 6 yrs or more, and still don't really know how to use the thang right!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you so much but not this year. Earlier I was deleting pics from 2 years ago, and I was reliving a great garden year. This year it is a disaster. I hope I get my act together next year. This year just got away from me.

I love it too when I feel I am all alone in the world when in my garden. All the cares and worries just go away.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Me too!
When I'm out there,I think of nothing else, can't even here the wife yell at me!!!
But she does ring a big cow bell when it's time to eat!!!!LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

As long as she doesn't expect you to eat grass, sounds like a good deal. LOL. My DH does the cooking here too. He finds my cooking lacking, how lucky am I? LOL I get to stay out late too in my garden while he cooks. Such a good marriage it makes.

Does sound great!!!
But who does the clean up and dishes!!!
I hate doing the dishes!!!

Hey tropicman looks great!!! The pink beauty you sent me has not bloomed yet but
I think I can see some tiny buds forming, I hope...This has been a terrible plant year for
me. It has been so hot and dry, I am sick of watering. Also a bad case of spidermites.
I have not had any blooms on any of mine since June and then it was only on the plants that I had from last year and very few at that. I want to see blooms on my new ones!! Needless to say it has been a very disappointing year. My yard doesn't look nearly as good as last year....But from what I have read it has been this way for lots of people. I hope the year ends with a bang or I will be hard pressed to dig all these plants up this fall.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Well I hope those are tiny buds forming.
Same here, this has been a hot dry summer, the mites and aphids are the worst I have ever seen.
I can't get rid of them,no matter what I spray, aphids on my hibiscus are just terrible too!
Today,I took hibiscus cuttings, and really cleaned them good,I just don't see trying to over winter large plants, that I can't control the bad insects on!!!
I went and bought some Bayer Tree and Srub systemic,$18.00 a bottle, just to pir over the soil at the base of the plant, trying to run them off,if I can't kill them, they just won't die!!!!!
I thinking the same as you about digging them up too!
