Can someone help me with this? How do you figure the size pump you need? Thanks
Pond pumps
Your pump should be big enough to give your pond a compleat water change, about every two hours. More if you have a fish overload.
It would also depend on how high the water has to pump. The higher the water fall the less a pump will deliver . Lets just as an example. If you have a 500 gal. pond the minimum pump should be a 250gph. A good website to check on pumps would be. http://www.webbsonline.com/catalog/pumps/index.html . They are the least expencive place to buy pumps. They give the pump volume at hights from 0 to 20ft. also sized according to the size of your pond.
They are very promt on shipping, incedently the shipping is free. They are shipped FEDEX and you can track where your pump at each FED-EX center. You can normaly expect a 5-7 day shipping time.
Filtration is another prime concideration. Don't economize in that field.
Randponder, thank you so much for the information. I have not used a pump before and now I know where to go to get some good information when you are not available. :)
