Okay..up and ready for school....
MONDAY, Aug 21: Texas "Coffee"/Tea and Gardening All Day!
Just moving toward the bedroom to dress for work. Have a good day Connie!!
Morning all. I'm off to doctor appointment this morning for lupus check up and labs. It's too hot to be out in the garden anyway and hubby was sweet enough that he did most of what I thought HAD to be done yesterday. I'm ready for it to cool off just a little (well, a lot would be better) so I can plant a few more things in some existing beds that are looking a little stressed right now. Y'all have a good day and try to stay cool.
Good morning everyone!
Crow, I hope your appt goes well. Merae and I have a friend that has lupus and it is pretty hard on her.
Connie and Sheila, have a great day!!
Today being the 21st, DH and I are officially 9 months paper pregnant. Our dossier was logged in to China Nov 21, 2005. If we were bio pregnant, we'd be having a baby today. But since it is an adoption, we are looking at several more months...at least 6...of waiting. At least I'm not all swollen up like a beached whale! :)
I practiced my stenciling and even made a stencil of a panda that DH likes. So I need to get my plan in order and start stenciling the border in the baby's room.
I better go outside and get everything watered before it gets too hot outside!
Michelle
Today is my OK lawn watering day, so I move sprinklers around until 10:00 a.m. Our subdivision no longer looks like a park - more like an abandoned field. The folks with good ol' bermuda have just let it go dormant, but I'm stuck with St. Augustine. Maybe this drought and the fact that our population is outgrowing the water sources will cause planners/builders to rearrange a lot of priorities.
Congratulations Michelle! That's great news! And no morning sickness either....
Good morning everyone. I hope everyone had a good weekend. Patrob, I read your post from yesterday...looks like you have not had a good weekend. I hope Robert is doing much better, that has to be hard on the both of you. Is he ok?
crowelli - yes Michelle and I do have a friend that has Lupus and my heart really goes out to her. I hope your doctor's appointment goes well for you and also I wish that you will be comfortable dealing with your Lupus and this terrible heat. I am like you and am so ready for things to start cooling off.
Michelle - You made a panda stencil! You are so creative. I bet it turns out absolutely awesome. I can't wait to see. I am hoping that the rest of your "pregnancy" flies by for you!
Connie - I saw that you wanted to go to the Nov. RU. Are you going to go? I talked it over with DH and asked if he minded if I go. He laughed and said that he did not mind at all and didn't see why I wouldn't go with as much as I talk about DG and spend time on here. lol. I hope to see you there!
Can we please get some rain here? Please, please, please?!?!?!?
Back from doc and don't like to whine, so will just say all went O.K. Thanks for the good wishes sent my way.
Tomatoholic, what a wonderful time for you. My youngest son is adopted. He was 8 days old when we picked him up. When anyone asks how many kids I have I say three, "one home grown, one hand picked and one imported". My oldest son is mine biologically,(home grown) my middle daughter is my step daughter from Scotland (imported), and my youngest son is adopted (hand picked). I was at an adoption family picnic once and everyone was introducing their families and I overheard three siblings talking to another family. They said one of them was adopted, but they couldn't remember which one! I thought that was so great. I hope all goes smoothly for you and that the time flies until you can get your little cherub home.
It looks like it might rain here today. We got a pretty good shower on Saturday and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another little bit today.
Oh yeah Bigbubbles...no morning sickness! YAY.
Merae, when will we get rain??? It has been since the 4th of July if memory serves. I'm going to work on the stencils this afternoon hopefully and I'll show you when you come over tomorrow night.
Crow, well you can always whine to us...we don't mind, really! What kind of meds do they have you on? some of the stuff that our friend was on sounded worse than the disease. She has a lot of difficulties with the lupus...lots of ups and downs I guess. I love your story about you kiddos. That made me smile. How old are your kids now? Post a pic of them if you have one handy pls.
Here is a pic of Bryan and me with our friend's little bitty baby girl. She is a doll and I love holding her!!
Here are more pictures of the baby kangaroo that Bryan took with his cell phone so they are not very good...but what a funny creature!! She hops! and she has her own pouch. Why our Lord would create such a strange animal...is beyond me! But she sure is fun.

The 'roo is cute, but a real baby girl much sweeter. Michelle, I hope the six months just fly for you. Post photos of the nursery as you decorate so we can enjoy the preparations too.
Robert is just napping in the hospital this afternoon instead of in his recliner. No sign of heart disturbance in any of the tests so far. I'm sure we overreact right now to anything in the area of the heart, but the doctors did not tell us we were being foolish (yet). We've been good customers this summer!
Crow, your comment about whining made me think of my 83-year-old aunt, who keeps my uncle from telling tales of his knee surgery by saying, "Knee, knee, knee! Me, me, me!" Of course, we think his tales are interesting as he is a master storyteller, but his wife has heard all of them more than once.
It feels like nap time. I went to bed at 2:00, and one cat had an attack of the crazies at 4:45. When she set off the motion detector on the stairs, I just pulled the covers over my head and waited for the siren to quit. Everyone, have a good afternoon and stay cool. See you for iced tea later.

I'm still up...need to go to bed! Okay...one "sentence" to greet each of you...:)
1. Sandi..good to hear from ya! Back from the lake??
2. Michelle...I'm so excited for you!!!! What was that cute name that Bryan wants (wanted?) to name her?
3. Patrob....hope Robert continues to be okay. My DH has a LOT of ailments, and I'm just scared to death that I'll panic when he needs to be hospitalized!! And...the 83-yo aunt story is hilarious. It reminds me of MY 92 yo aunt who just now is in a rest home. When I went to see her the other day, she --as usual--spoke her mind and say "WELL. YOU have gained weight!!!" Mother and I died laughing...and then she turned to my mother and said, "And YOU have lost it!!" She was exactly right!!!! LOL
4. Merae...I definitely plan to go....and will TRY to get Roger to go too. YOu know how Calvin wanted his "sig other" to see what he was so "into"...well..that's how I am now!!!
5. Yuska...do you know if Zoysia (sp?) requires a lot of water? I hate my St. A. grass as it got "crop circles" about 2 weeks after planting and still has them!!
6. Crow...I know you just said "it went okay" but IS it okay? We will listen if you want to talk about it. That's what we're here for!!! :)
7. Sheila...thanks for the "good day wishes"....same to you! :)
All right...if we're bragging and showing "babies" here is mine...he sits here while I dress for work each day!!!

And here is another....
Connie, the kitty is too cute! I am letting my three and the Pyr sleep in again tonight. There will probably be craziness at 4 a.m. again, but I do love their company. The alarm on the stairs is so loud! Robert's doctor has found no sign that his heart is involved in whatever was going on last night, so he should be coming home in the morning.
Sharing concerns is not whining, and I promise not to say "Knee, knee, knee!" We love our aunt, but we REALLY love our uncle and his stories and jokes.
I hope all of you sleep well and have a wonderful Tuesday.
Pat....a friend's husband is 75 and he had heart pains the other night...they spent the weekend at the hospital doing tests...and come to find out...he has anxiety attacks!!! Thank God that was all it was!!!
My 30 year-old DDIL went through all sorts of tests this week after experiencing severe pain in her head, loss of vision, etc. Then she had trouble breathing. The decision was that she had a migraine followed by anxiety attack. Of course, when she began experiencing the symptoms, she thought of Robert's stroke, and that probably triggered the anxiety attack. She's fine now. I love the boring, non-eventful days. :>))
Hey Connie! Oh wow...Brutus is so adorable. he reminds me of my Alex who passed on 2 years ago. Alex was my buddy!!
Bryan refers to our soon-to-be daughter as Su-Lin. It means in Chinese: A little bit of something sweet.
patrob, not that I'm a doctor, but hey...I watch a lot of Mystery Diagnosis on Discovery health channel! A fellow who seemed to have a lot of heart problems waking him up in the night finally found out he had sleep apnea and so he would stop breathing during the night and his heart would seizure b/c he was not breathing and it acted like a heart attack. Butit was his body trying to wake him up so he could breath. Crazy hu? He had heart test after heart test and they could never find anything wrong with his heart. But a sleep doc asked him to come in for a sleep disorder test and sure enough, the man stopped breathing for a dangerous amount of time and his heart seizured and now the fellow sleeps with an oxygen tank.
I'll have to post some nursery pics. I had another thread somewhere with some pics. But I stopped posting on there when we were told that the wait for the baby was going to double.
Michelle
So let me get this straight...NOW the time has been shortened?? PTL!!!!!
Connie, no...the wait has DOUBLED from what we were originally told back last November when our dossier was logged in at the CCAA. The earliest timeframe that we will get our baby is March 2007. Our agency thinks that the time will even be longer than it currently is. :(
I think I would try another agency...or have you already committed there?
It has NOTHING to do with the agency. It is purely the CCAA (China Center for adoption affairs). This delay is for ALL adoptions out of China. The agencies have absolutely no power over the CCAA and rate of speed in which the CCAA works... the agencies only report the bad news or good news to us as the CCAA gives out the info.
Great Wall CHina Adoption is either number one or two of all the hundreds of agencies that do adoptions from China...and yes, we have already invested $10,000 in this adoption. Not all of it for GWCA, b/c there are so many various costs for all the paperwork and various things that we have to do due to CCAA rules, it adds up. And we have still at least another $15,000 to go...not to GWCA (we are all paided up w/them), but for more immigration stuff b/c the current paperwork will expire since the adoption is taking so long, air plane tickets, pay off to the CCAA and the orphanage...etc.
Tomatoholic, I wish you all the best of luck in the adoption process and hope the delay isn't too long. I think most people don't realize just how much adoption costs. My son knows he was adopted and it's no big deal to him since we told him stories about it from the time he was very small. After he got big enough to ask questions, at about age 7, he thought you could just go to the hospital and pick out a baby you wanted and adopt it. Once I explained a little more to him, he decided we "bought" him and that he must be very special because he "cost" a lot! I told him if we had had to "buy" him, we couldn't have afforded it because he's worth millions! I know the delay must be horrible for you to endure when you want to be with your baby as early as possible for mommy/baby bonding. Dealing with bureaucracy and red tape is frustrating enough in day to day matters, but when it's holding up something this important, it excruciating. All the best.
Crow
Thanks Crow. It is frustrating!!!
I was thinking perhaps another adoption here in the US AND then still get Sue Lin from China! I know of an agency that takes in Christian girls who don't want to abort..and a friend got a boy from them in about 3 months!! (But they may have given a huge "offering" bc her family owns a lot of mall stores...doesn't seem fair that more money could get a baby faster...but I know it does happen...)
The CCAA does not allow you to adopt elsewhere while you have an adoption pending with them. They believe there should be at least one year in between adoptions or if I were to miraculously get pregnant, the CCAA would put our adoption on hold for a year. Their stupid rules. So doing another adoption at the same time is not an option. And dropping this adoption to move on to another country, US, Russia, whatever... well, it would be like when you are in line at HEB...it looks really long, so you move to another line...and then that line moves slower....then you look over and the line you were in previously and realize if you had stayed in that line, you would be out the door going home if you had stayed in it.
Yes, some people get their babies in 3 months, others in 3 years. It is all dependent on a zillion different factors for timing.
