I had a cat door installed in the wall of the computer room a few weeks ago. It is some 18-inches up with a board on both the inside and the outside for the cats to walk on. (I wanted to make it difficult for an opossum.) At first the flexible flap was sufficient for keeping the cats in at night but eventually Nemo figured out that he just had to push to get in and out. So I started to slide the solid door in for the night.
Well that worked for a couple of nights and then he would get out. I found a screen with the catch missing so I fixed that. Again after a couple of nights Nemo was getting out. I searched and searched but everything was tight. Tonight he came in and I closed the solid cat door but did not latch it. Nemo came over and hopped onto the board, with his nose he lifted the solid door and out he went, the solid door slid down and was closed as he left.
Tomorrow it will be latched. I wonder how long it will take him to find another escape? Maybe he is Houdini reincarnated!
