Here are two funny close ups of my sliver laced wyandotte named Savannah deep in concentrated thought/egg production.
PS my broody silkie gal laid her first egg today after a three month hiatus. Summer vacation, I guess!
Portrait of a Hen in deep thought (okay, she's just laying)
Hens, you're making me want to order my chickens before I'm ready for them. I'm SO looking forward to having a little flock of my own. And I do mean little. The SLW is on the short list, but I've read they're not as sweet as some others (temperament wise -- I don't care how they'd taste as I would NEVER kill one to eat it -- no judgment meant by that, anyone) and can get a little mean. But I guess that varies from chicken to chicken, just like any other critters from humans to dogs. I've met pomeranians who were laid back, and men who asked directions!
OOOoooooh but isnt she pretty!!!
Thanks :)
Lily- she is very chatty and not particularly friendly with people. I love her, of course, but both my mother and I have found our SLW to be sort of skittish. She likes to follow me around the yard and make comments as I work. LOL but she won't eat out of my hand or let me hold her. she is a very pretty girl, however.
Also, Savannah is a pretty good layer, although she does take vacations now and then. Hope that helps, lily!
She sure is a pretty gal!
