CLOSED: Redbud Seedlings

Pittsboro, NC(Zone 7a)

I have many small redbud (Cercis canadensis) seedlings growing all around and in my gardens. I don't want to just pull them up, so I think I'll dig most of them up and pot them. BUT I'd sure like to find them a good home. Anybody want 'em for the shipping cost or a trade?

Linda, FYI, redbuds are almost impossible to transplant unless they're very, very tiny because they have a long tap root. So go for the smallest ones and dig as deep as you can to get the root.

Thanks! They are pretty small - most about 8" - 12". I'll dig 'em up first, then let you know how many I have.

Edited to add:
Changed my mind about digging them up first. It's too hot and dry here to dig them up until I get ready to send them!

I'd be interested
I got 2 in a trade years ago and the one is now taller than me ...they were 6" when I got them
Let me know what you're looking for or if you just want postage

I have transplanted several Okla red buds from the woods to my landscaped areas....always in the fall or winter, most have done just fine..I am in sand that may make a difference.

They may be a different redbud than the eastern variety, too, Jackie. I know I've killed a heck of a lot of redbuds trying to transplant them but did fine if they were really small and I dug halfway to China to get the taproot. LOL

Cincinnati, OH

I would also be interested in a seedling or two if still available

Yes, kaykay; I still have a couple more. So I'll add you to the list, OK? It will probably be 2 or 3 weeks before I send them out, as it's really hot and dry here. If your address isn't in the address exchange, please send it to me via D-mail.
