And two new butterflies for me

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

These aren't taken with the "good" camera, just my old HP one. But I was happy these guys posed so nicely! I thought it was a spotted copper, but after looking at the pics, it's not. If you know, can you give me an ID?

Thanks,
~Sunny

And here is the other one, two shots, since I wasn't tall enough to get above him on the fence for markings.

Hineni,
Just to let you know, I went through all my books and searched the web... and just don't know. Maybe someone else can try!

Edinburg, TX

The first looks like some type of crescent...possibly a Pearl Crescent condering you live in Georgia and they are common there.

The second/third look like some type of emperor - the eyespot on teh forewing made me think Empress Lilia but they are not known to be in Georgia...so perhaps a variation of the Hackberry or Tawny Emperor.

If you have the book: Kaufman Focus Guides: Butterflies of North America perhaps you can compare the photos.

Hope that helps =^..^= Cat

Thanks Cat and sunshine...I'm going to try to get to the library this weekend for a book. Pretty soon I'll need a backpack just to walk through the yard ...LOL.

Camera -check
Cuppa tea or java -check
Book to indentify flutterbyes -check
Magnifying glass-check
Gloves to move endangered cats - check
Bags, boxes, scissors for seed collecting - check

The glory of all the beauty that is outside just under all of our noses....priceless!!

Happy gardening,
~Sunny
