Please help!!! Brug or Datura?

Emory, TX(Zone 8a)

Can someone help me be able to tell if a plant is a brug or a datura. I went to a local "nursery" and they had some of one or the other or both but they don't know. They didn't know the difference or how to tell either. They said that when they had bloomed the flowers pointed down, but they have small buds on them and they are pointing up. They had a real tall one about 7 ft I guess, with 3 "trunks" and it looked pretty good and they were asking $18. The foliage on it looks like the one I have that I know is a brug. The shorter ones were $10. But I don't know if they are brugs or not. The foliage looks different but then I was told that foliage varies on brugs too. I think the tall ones are brugs. Do daturas get that tall? Do daturas also Y before they bloom. That might me one clue. LOL The one I think are daturas had definately Y'd.
Also the tags just say "pink" or "white" and the one I am considering doesn't have a tag. If they are brugs should I not buy them because they don't have name? I am a new addict so I am not a collector of special brugs yet. I just want them to bloom and be pretty. I have not had a brug bloom yet, so they are all going to be special to me.

Someone may correct me if I am wrong, but I think Dats only come in white, yellow and purple colours. Most Dats also have atleast some purple on their branches and/or trunk. My Dat Y-ed before it flowered.
I have never heard of Dats going over normal waiste/chest hight so I think its safe to assume that the 7 ft one definately is a brug.
If you think the plant is worth the prise then go for it, I would! OH and about half of my buds point up and a KNOW they are brugs and unnamed ones.

Wow, $18 for what sounds like a brug?? I'd snatch that in a heartbeat, room or no room, and the fact that you don't know what color it will be adds to the excitement!!

Like Janett said, the smaller one is probably a Datura. A bit pricey though. I'll attach pictures of foliage of my two Daturas, and maybe that will help determine whether or not the smaller one is indeed a Datura.

This picture is of a single, Lilac De Fleur...

and here is a picture of the foliage on my Double Purple Datura that's driving me crazy because it takes so darned long for it to bloom! Hope this helps!

Janett- Thanks for the info. It is helpful. So even if the buds point up, when it blooms they will point down or no?

Lily-From what I can see from your pictures if most datura look like that then even the smaller ones are brugs. The leaves and stems of the plants in question look more like the ones I know are brugs. So the datura's stems and trunks are not like those of a brug? If that is the case then both of the plants I already have are brugs. I know one is, but I was afraid other was a datura. They are both in the ground and from my understanding if one is a datura they are not hardy here. I hope it blooms soon so I will know in case I have to dig it up.

Check out some images on the datura forum here http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/datura/all/ and you can see that most blooms are pretty much upturned. They don't really winter over either so are treated as annuals. They are soooo easy to start from seeds though.

They weight will drag them downwards as they get bigger/longer, but not all Brugs hang "strait" down, some point a bit outward too.
I noticed that the Brug that has flowered for me longest this summer has its buds pointing up now with cooler temps.

Most Dats have sclaloped leaves , but some don't . Most brugs have non-sclaloped leaves , but some do .
I haven't seen a brug with purple on main stem and most brugsare stared from cuttings , so if the main stem has been cut and healed over or looks way to big to be from a seed , it is probably a brug .
