Garden for SALE!!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 7b)

I think we've been going about this the wrong way... Our home has been on the market since March this year. Not ONE offer. Some say that the yard and garden may be scaring people off... NOT everyone wants or knows what to DO with an established garden!!! I'm starting to think that we need to sell the yard/garden, and throw the house in for free!!!!! It just might work!!!

Any takers???? South of Fort Worth, north of Burleson..........

Melanie, I think you may be on to something there!! I know I for one if I were in the market would definately be interested.
I saw this in person folks, and it is lovely!
Best of luck with the offers Mel!

My question is - why would anyone choose to move from such a lovely place?

I'll happily buy your garden!!!!

... is it cool where you live? : ))

I know gardening people who have had the same problem. They sold the plants in the garden, rock work, etc. then replaced with "builder's plants" and lawn. House sold quickly then. So in other words, sell your garden first, then your house. And it looks like just the back would need some adjusting. I like the look; but believe it or not, most people want low maintenance, which in their opinion means no maintanence. I think it a shame.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah I think that maybe the issue- I for one don't get it because I think your yard and home are lovely- I know that my brother in law looks at what I do and shudders- I have tried to tell folks that you can plant lots of beautiful plants that take no real effort.
I'd buy your house, but it's a bit out of the way for me.

Interesting problem you have. At least you can enjoy your yard while you are waiting for a sale on your house! Guess what you need to look at is what are similar size homes without an established garden selling for in your area? If you do not really need to sell, then it's a matter of waiting for someone who really appreciates your garden. Lot's of work in maintaining a developed garden and most folks are not up to the effort, interest wise or energy wise. Your property is an exception. Through the years I have done inspections on thousands of homes and only a small percentage had well-landscaped yards such as yours.

Very nice...wish I could move it here. How many prospects have come out to look? Maybe you need a new realtor! Is the realtor really doing a good job?

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Can I purchase your koi and waterfall/pond? lol...Lovely home...can't imagine why people aren't interested?

Melanie (yep, my name too :)

Hico, TX(Zone 8a)

I had the same problem trying to sell my house last year. My yard was certified NWF - had pics of the blooms spring & fall - I guess people don't like birds and butterflies like they used to. So sad. Your yard would be a seller to me, but I found my new home here. I hope to create something similar to yours.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yeah, TX T, the neighbors wouldn't have to learn a new name! LOL!

The housing market is flooded with houses for sale right now unfortunately. Wish you loads of prospective buyers Mel.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

My DM would love for her only DD to buy it & move closer to home but it gets too cold up there for me. Guess I am getting old! lol
Beautiful yard, oh yea, house too!!!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow that is so nice and I would sure love to have a garden like that and one I could improve on. There are so many people that are afraid of growing things so you just might be right, the garden is scaring them away......LOL
I wish you luck...........

Thanks, all! Yes, I think that we are just going to sit here, and wait for that perfect buyer/gardener to come along, and enjoy the yard while we can!

WHY are we moving? My husbands commute gets longer every day. The TRAFFIC is awful, and it is alot of extra time commuting that could be spent enjoying the family, yard or a golf course.... DD graduates next year, so we thought we'd downsize also.

also, we did change realtors very recently, and he is promoting the yard on MLS and then the house. We have a showing today, so I guess I should get busy finalizing things!

Thanks for the pep talk, all!!!

I think it's gorgeous, Mel, and you know you don't want an idiot whose idea of beauty is a chemically-fed stretch of St. Augustine to replace all that beauty to buy it. Turn it over to the gardening spirits -- they'll find the right buyer, and believe me, he or she is out there. Good luck; moving is a mess (I did it less than 3 months ago) but getting a new yard to transform is wonderful.

Well how did your showing go Melanie? Any offers yet? I know your front yard is zeriscaped, that should be a plus in the heat we have been experiencing.
