After reading that A. titanum could be propagated form leaf cuttings, I thought that A. bulbifera (which naturally produces bulblets on the leaf at the end of its cycle) would be a likely candidate for leaf cuttings.
I took a 6" tip from my plant and removed the green leaf-parts (there's a word for that) from the stem part and inserted about 2" worth in a potting mix and put it under an overturned aquarium for higher humidity.
A bulb has been forming within the stem under the soil.
Has anyone else tried leaf propagation with other Amorphs or Aroids?

Robert.
Leaf cuttings in Amorphophallus.
I have tried this with mixed results. I had a friend who was able to do Titanums under mist in Hawaii. The problem was they would produce small plants but they seemed to rarely forms tubers. Your forms that make tubers on the leaf will be the easiest one to try. The problems I have had are rotting manly in a high humidity place after being cut they can rot easily. Some do better under mist but still rotting is a major factor. I may try it again sense you have brought it up. Would be interesting to see how well yours do keep up informed.
I have propagated Zamioculcas zamiifolia from leaves. I had tubers within a couple of months under warm Summer/outside conditions and a nice little plant after two years.
Nice experiment, Robert.... maybe I'll try that... My morphs are just now getting ready to leaf out. Keep us posted, thx-B

Where did you find yours at? I only have the one kind of aroid.
makshi,
local plant stores (especially "Metropolitan Plant Exchange" ) around here carry them every so often.
I just looked at the Tropiflora website ( I get the "Cargo report" sent to my house), they also sell it.

Cool! It IS just going dormant, right? Did you just "plant" the stem a month ago? If so, I think 3/4 inch "bulb" is significant. Konjac would probably just rot, Robert, what do yout think? Maybe I'll give it a go and see... nothing to lose.
Hey AuntB~
No, I took the cutting in (I wish I took notes....) maybe late June or early July. By the time I posted this, it had been in the soil for a while.
I took it in a couple weeks ago because it was getting cool here and I wanted to keep it warm. But it just continued to yellow out.
I posted *somewhere* that I thought it had grown roots as well because it was resisting pulling out of the soil, but it was just the tuber had grown.
There's a little more discussion here, if you haven't yet read it:

I wish now I had done more! My plant is still green and, assuming it *is* A.bulbifera, it hasn't yet started forming it's "tuberettes". I'm a little concerned.
I would encourage you to give it a go! Nothing to lose but the tip(s), right?
Robert.
Thanks, Robert.... so much to do, so little time..... 41 degrees night before last ---
Find a nice warm window, B.
Hope your late Amorphs do ok, anyway!
Robert.
