Should I trim off the bottom leaves?

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

This is from a cutting that I got last fall. It's branched off in a couple places, but it's hard to see with all the leaves. Will those bottom leaves before the Y's fall off naturally, or should I trim them off? All the seedlings I've seen have been naked until the tips.

It just depends on the look you want. I sometimes remove some of the leaves so that I can see the flowers better or so that I can let some sun in to the area below or behind. If you want to be able to see some of that branching, you can remove some of the lower leaves. You can just snap them off easily. Eventually, the lower leaves drop as the newer ones come in, and eventually, the trunk will become woody and leafless. The newer, greener wood tends to have the leaves. You have a beautiful plant there.

If it was my plant I would leave those lovely healthy leaves; the branches will grow longer and then the leaves will be more spread out.
