Boy, I sure hope this post works! There is some kind of insidious creature residing in my computer, causing it to freeze up when I'm in the middle of trying to do anything. >:-(
First, hello everyone! It's been a long (really long), hot (really hot), summer. I've been away from Daves for some time due to lots going on, and then computer problems. You guys have been really busy!! There are so many new posts I can't hope to catch up with all of them, just hope I can pick up on what's been going on.
Second, I should be a grandmother on Monday (Aug 21st)!!!! (Dancing the happy dance!!)
Third, how is everyone? How have you handled the heat? How have your plants handled the heat? I can't wait to see and talk to everyone. I plan to go to the Dallas swap (I'm bringing a friend, and we may stay the weekend with her sister), and to the RU in College Station. I'll catch up on those threads.... as soon as I find them and have a few hrs to read them, lol.
Good to "see" you guys again!
Mary
Wowee, you guys have been BUSY!
Good to have you back Mary!!! we have really missed you,
don't be a stranger now, you hear?
Josephine.
Mary, I have missed you! It has been an unusual summer for us. Lots of health problems since early June, but everyone is doing well now. My younger son was born August 20, and he's fantastic. That would be a very good birthday! A healthy baby and mom, that's what's important. Let us know when the baby arrives!
Patricia
A Leo grandson, huh? that'd be pretty cool. Have missed ya. Has been a happy, albeit scorching summer. Jordan is having the time of his life in Germany, spending 3 times what he makes.
Oh boy, it's been so busy. We had the baby shower today, thank heaven Katie didn't go into labor, lol. As tired as I am, I'm sure that Katie is even more so. She had a great time, there were lots of people there, and I finally got to meet her mother and some other family. You can bet I'll be announcing grandgirl's arrival!! :-)
Lol, Nery, about Jordan spending 3x his salary. That will come to a screeching halt at some point, I'm sure. I'm glad he's enjoying himself, how about you guys? How are you doing with him so far away?
The only thing that has saved my garden this summer is that I got most of my drip irrigation completed before I left for CA July 5th. With the simple $10 timers on the faucets, it's been a dream to keep the beds hydrated. The containers are another story, I've allowed some of them to just go "silently into that good night," lol. It has certainly allowed me to be more objective about what's making me happy, what's not, what's worth the fight. The geraniums lost.
I haven't done as much deadheading, etc that I should do, but as the weather cools I'll get caught up. I'm going to need to stay busy in order to try to keep from being an interfering, obnoxious grandmother, lol.
