FRIDAY, August 18: Coffee and Gardening

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I have a cute little mug made for me years ago by a student's mom. I'll sub for Connie this morning and start the chat thread.

Connie, I hope all is well and that you just had a busy evening and hurried morning. Maybe you went to bed early and got some rest?

Marylyn, I never used up the 64 crayons, so I guess I don't really need the 128. Thanks though!

Sheila, you definitely have your priorities right. RU's are very important, especially if you have plants for me! LOL Don't forget if the surgery interferes with October, we are gathering a month later in College Station.

Today's agenda is to continuing clearing out the greenhouse. It's time for a thorough cleaning and debugging so that I can start cuttings for the fall RU's. Then about noon I'll give up because of the heat and come inside to attack laundry and dirty floors. Yeah!

Have a great Friday everyone!

Nice mug! Reminds me of my pottery classes in college. I still have several favorite pieces - all these many years later.

My garden assignment today is preparing the planting space for the new kumquat tree. I need to change the container plantings for the front porch and have decided on an experiment. I'm starting succession plantings of Swiss chard "Bright Lights" - as the first clump begins to get leggy, I'll cook it and set out the next generation.

Patrob...thanks so much! And yes. I did come home late, started reading some things the kids wrote for me...fell asleep, and stumbled into bed at 10:30, which is earrrrly for me! I'm actually on my lunch right now, as I SUDDENLY remember that I didn't start the thread last night!!!

I have to pick up Roger (DH) from the airport at 9 tonight...the usual.

Will chat more this weekend! My gardens are going to weed!!!! :)

Pat, I hope to be at the RU for sure. I enjoyed it this April even though I was having my back problems then. Hopefully I can get it over with quickly and be back to normal gardening by then. My DH hates yard work and this summer has been miserable for him.
Hope you have a nice evening with the hubby Connie.
I need to get up and move....later
