Wow! I didn't think they got this big. How old is this tree? I was figuring 25' by maybe 15'. I am in Oregon in the willamette valley. Additionaly. I saw some in january at a nursery that looked burnt from freezing temps. I also heard they can get burnt from direct summer sun, and do better with filtered light and protection from winds. Does anyone have any experience with these circumstances? Or is it just from some other cause in combination with the freeze and heat such as not enough water? I have two and am considering a third. Any advice?

I'm not sure on how old this tree is and I haven't been out to look at it to see how it fared through this cold winter. We had a large one at work in a box which didn't do too well with little summer irrigation but I haven't seen it in a while. The one in the picture is a good drainage spot facing the ocean. I haven't seen it burn in sun but imagine in an area that gets hotter than the coast could get burning. Sure is a nice tree when it's in a good spot though.

wow, I have just bought one and have it in a pot on patio, its only about 24" tall now, it will probably be years before it grows that big. I live in Manchester, England and have it in full sun - but we dont get that many hot summers here !!

elano, it should do great where you are. The foliage has such a nice glow to it. Enjoy!
