I have no clue what this plant is! My net searches haven't turned up anything that even closely resembles it. No way to take a photo, but I'll try to describe it...
Think of an aglaonema - same growth habit. The petioles are a pretty reddish-pink color, the leaves look like an aglaonema's - in length and width, but not as symmetrical (does that make sense?) The leaves are gorgeous! Nice velvety dark green, speckled with silver. Undersides are reddish as well, and there's no prominent veining.
Any ideas?
Philo? Anthurium? Aglaonema?
Your description seems to fit an angelwing begonia.
No it's not a begonia, that I know for sure. The leaves emarge the same as with aglaonemas and philos.
The calathea idea sounds interesting though, I'll do a search and see if it turns up there. Thanks for the help, guys.
