I was planning to put-in a circle or half-moon driveway in my front yard for both appearance and to add some much needed parking space. I'm on a septic tank and I knew that my field lines ran through my front yard, but assumed that I could move them or run new ones. However, after talking with a septic tank installer he said that I could not move the lines to the backyard because I have a pond back there and field lines have to be at least 100 ft. from any body of water. My dilema is that I have no other place to move them so, A: I scrap the idea for a circle drive or B: Pave over the existing field lines and risk possibly having to tear up a section of the drive if I ever need to repair or replace the field lines. Now it would be an exposed aggregate concrete type paving, which the septic tank specialist said would be better than asphalt and that I would most likely not have a problem with it. Keep in mind that the drive would not cover the entire septic field, just only about 40% of it, but there is no room to move the field lines back or out of the way. As of right now I'm leaning toward not putting in the drive, but it would look dynamite at my place, any suggestions on what to do? Any past experience advice welcome, thanks.
