I thought you would like to see some of my hybrids. The first one is:
Debon's Christmas Morning - that is they day the first flower opened!
The picture does not do it justice. It really is a bright pink with a coral overlay.

Debon's hybrids
The third one is:
Debon's Misty Morning
The cross was: Penny lover x Rising Tide. I wasn't expecting this at all.
Nancy
WOW!!!
Thank you for posting photos of some of your beauties!
I'd been hoping we'd get to see some of the results of your hybridizing efforts. I'm just blown away.... gorgeous blooms *and* variegated foliage, stunning!!
OOOHHH! And you posted a photo of 'Sarah Clarinda' just as I was typing! That was the one I was really dying to see -- your (and your grandmother's) namesake!
Talk about pretty!! Have wanted your Debon's Christmas Morning for a while. Love 'em all! Thank you for helping nature along in creating these fine beauties. I know it takes a lot of time and effort.
Snowrose - I just sent you some D-mail. Maybe we can work out something!
Nancy
Nancy, these are gorgeous! I LOVE the varigated leaves! Lucky you!!
Nancy,
I love the ruffles! Thank you for sharing these beauties!
That Chimera is so pretty too!
Joanne
Gosh, they are so lovely, I can't even pick a favorite! But that Debon's Christmas Morning is outstanding!
Don muttering to herself...no...no more, you have no room,,,
Don :-%
Don...you are so funny! Making me laugh! My sentiments exactly!!!
Just beautiful!
I'm fascinated by hybridizers... it must feel really good to see such beauty that you personally hand a hand in createing??
All are just lovely!

99.9 % of the babies get thrown out or given to Hospice patients where I do volunteer work because they are just average, everyday type flowers. The patients are thrilled with them. Those few that are different really are something special.
About six years ago I went to one of our state AV meetings and the program was on hybridizing. I was hooked bigtime and my first attempt produced a seedpod which eventually produced Frilly Lilly and Sarah Clarinda. There were probably 300+ seeds in that pod and I had to plant every single one of them. I started throwing out quickly since I don't have that much room!!! Christmas Morning only had 20 seeds in the pod.
Now I am trying my hand at hybridizing sinningias and streps and I will not grow out 300 at one time :)
Nancy
Wow! My hat's off to you, Nancy. Wish I had that much energy. The fruits of your labour have certainly paid off. Gorgeous plants!

Hi Nancy,
Now that is what I call patience! You got more than I do that is for sure. Now hybridizing.....too advanced for me but good for you wanting to be so brave and try it.
What a very nice thing to do! Very thoughtful.
I agree with Don....hats off to you for sure!
Joanne
Nancy,
That's truly a labor of love!
I'd be over run in a minute because I still have a hard time throughing leaves away..lol I'm getting better theses days cause there just ins't enough room to grow eveything well.
The hybridizers corner of the AVSA magizine has been a favorite of mine for many years. I love reading about the genetics etc...

You are very talented! They are all gorgeous!
Nancy I know your out of town but looking over and over again at your breath taking hybrids. WOW I love them all and the double salmon on your Debon's Tropical Breeze WOW :))
Gosh wish I had them all but one would be just dreamy.
And I take throw aways I'm on Hospice gosh would love a throw away of yours :))
Truely beautiful. Love them all. Way to go!!!!!
It's like trying to pick a favorite child! They're all so beautiful, but I think I like Misty Morning the best. I don't know if you ever thought about volunteering at a school, but I think your work would make a great science project. I didn't like science much when I was a kid, but I never got to study the sciences I liked very much (earth sciences, botany, astornomy, etc.). Plus, I never realized all the cool jobs you could do if you studied science. Now, when I think about the fact that someone would pay me to play with plants all day...sigh. At the very least, maybe you could do the Great American Teach-In day. Just a thought...
That's a great thought :))
. I do volunteer at Hospice as you know and they get most of my rejects. I don't think hybridizing would make a good school project because it takes so long from the time you pollunate a flower before actually getting a viable seedpod (4 - 7 mos) and then it takes forever for the first batch of seeds to mature into flowering plants.
I also have had a rare balance disorder called Mad de Debarquement (MdDS) for the past two years and I never know from one day to the next how well I will function. I rock internally as if I am on a boat 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. When symptoms are high my hand-eye coordination is extremely poor and I walk like a drunk. Those of us who have this syndrome look just fine on the outside but we are a mess inside. The brain refuses to accept that we are on solid ground. There isn't any treatment or medication for us yet. The past week has been fairly good for me and I can't complain because this is not life-threatening, just life changing.
If anyone has any questions re: this syndrome D-mail me and I shall get back to you in a couple of weeks. We packed the car tonight and are off to NY for my mother's 100th birthday party.
By the way, I think Debon's Sarah Clarinda is my favorite so far but the color in Debon's Christmas Morning is also phenonmenal. The photo in First Class doesn't do it justice. I sent Joe Bruns a better picture of DSC so hopefully it will be in the next FC update.
Stay well and healthy everyone!
Nancy
What beautiful plants you made. I love them all, especially Debon's raspberry fluff - what a gorgeous color. You must be very proud of this work you did!! Thanks for sharing the pics with us.
Maureen
Hi Nancy,
I am so sorry for you...I had no idea! We take so much for granted. TFS that with us.
How do you like living on a boat? I have a relative that does and they just love it. I don't think it is for me though.
Joanne
absolutely beautiful. well worth your effort.
mrsbonnie
