what is it?
A type of E E but not sure what one Regards Paul
Welcome, and I agree it is some type of EE; perhaps Brian will chime in and tell us which one.
Brian will know, but maybe that Royal Hilo we were discussing on another thread? Maybe not, how long are the leaves?
This is the common form which is very invasive. I grow it and it is very fast and fairly hardy. I call it Colocasia esculenta wild blue form. It usually had a dark bluish green leaf a maroon to red spot and the stems are green to red or marron toward the leaves. This form can grow around 6 feet tall but usually the leaves never reach more than 2 feet long in most cases it is much smaller and it sends out runners extremely fast does very well in water.
Hi thanks for the welcome :o)
You were all right, Brian is correct sound just like it. Are you an E.E. guru? LOL. It was actually growing at the edge/in the water of a pond so that is right as well.
Had a little rizhome back with me tree years ago, and is growing fine.
Has a special place in my heart, it was growing were my DH ask me to marry him :o))
Nice to know what it is thanks Monica
Monica, I'd say Brian is a Tropicals' Guru, check out his pics...

Oh my goodness…. That is a jungle, was expecting Tarzan to jump out at any moment!!!
Amazing it looks… yes like the work of a tropical Guru :o))
Wonderful job, worderful. Tried to count how many different plants there are, but got all confused LOL.
Brian do you how many you have, and what zone do you live in? Sorry do´t know what KY stands for, have not learn all the states shortenings. Is it Kentucky?, hope I got that right :o)
Yes, Monika, Kentucky. I'm in awe of his tropical paradise. It's almost unbelieveable! Not only works there, lives there, too! (sorry, Brian, I won't elaborate any further) ..... briansbotanicals.net - really.. :)
I am glad you all enjoy the photos so much. I would love if everyone was able to visit and see it for themselves. I really have to many plants to count. I dont count each plant but each variety or species I know I have around 75 varieties of elephant ear type plants around 30 varieties of banana type plants and thousands of cannas. I am very fond of aroids and have a huge collection of just about anything you can imagine in that group. I enjoy gingers and others as well but I do over look them a lot when photographing them I have around 50 gingers. To tell the truth I have to much to even begin to count them all. To give you a better idea how sick I am here is a photo of the back of my greenhouse this is all tropical indoor to greenhouse plants philos anthuriums and things like that.
Oh yeah, you are one sick dude! LOL
Calif-sue, you are rigth very ill inded LOL, nice plants errr... jungle :o)
He's OBSESSED.. ain't it Great?!
What I would almost give to go visit Brians place. I am afraid I wouldn't have enough money to buy everything my heart would desire. Then wouldn't have any place to put them in the winter. Will maybe I could bring one of his GH's home with me. Now that sounds like a good ideal. But I have a feeling he would have something to say about it. Then again maybe I could move to Ky. and volunteer myself to work in his GH and have all the neat stuff he has around me all the time. I know I am dreaming or maybe thinking crazy. ROFLMBO
