I'm in insomniac hades! Been up since 3:00 when I finally couldn't stand laying in bed any longer. I did see a few interesting things in the garden. At 4:00 am there was a snail so huge stuck to my front picture window that I thought it was a giant moth. I think this solves the wonder over what's been eating the plants in the bed there! Who knew what you could find by snooping around this early? Been painting a bit also this am. Time for DH to head off to work. I'm preparing for guests we have coming in from Scotland for a few days. I hope they know what they're getting into with Texas in August. It'll be a shock to their thermostats, to say the least! Hope everyone has a good day.

It's afternoon here. I've been out in the garage all morning trying to organize. The house looks like barely controlled chaos and the garage is worse.

I can't wait to get to Texas though, and unpacking is so much easier.

It's sure been a hot dry day here today. I got out early almost before sun up to start watering everything. The tomato vines are still hanging on with several green tomatoes. Some leaves on some plants have turned a coppery brown color and I know that is from the heat. However, they are still all alive and blooming. My lantanas are gearing up to bloom again. Tropicana is about to burst open with lots of pretty pink blooms.
Weathermen talk like by the weekend we should get a break from the 100 deg. temps. I sure hope so.

Prickle...welcome to the thread!!! so tell us about your moving here....are you actually here now!???

Crowellli....this summer I would stay up real late..one night (morning!) around 4 am I heard a loud bump on my patio door! I turned on the light and there was a hummingbird moth sipping nectar from my verbenas! I took 3 pics before he left, and got one great one!

Hi Connie, thanks for the welcome.

I'm not there yet, I'm still packing up the old house here in Vegas. My new house isn't quite finished yet but we're supposed to do the walk through on the 24th and close on the 29th.

Me and Mr. Prickle are leaving here Friday (at least we hope so, the movers are giving us a lttile trouble at the last minute). We're going to have a mini vacation on the way.

We're going south from Albuquerque to see the beginning of the Rio Grande then east through the Capitan Mountains to Roswell and the Carlsbad Caverns, then on to San Antonio for a couple days to see the Alamo and the Riverwalk, then from there to Houston. We'll probably be staying in Spring until the closing.

It'll be quite an adventure, I think, especially since we'll be traveling with two cats. (Note to self: buy earplugs.)

Wouldn't want to be in that car on the way down!! LOL!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Prickle, should this be a "Welcome to Texas" or "Welcome Back"? Welcome either way. Lord, I'd hate to spend that much time on the road with two cats, actually two anythings! LOL If we don't get some rain, your visit to the Rio Grande may wind up by viewing a dry ditch.

Prickle, the weather should be nice for you on your way through NM. Enjoy it before you get to TX!! LOL.

I hope you have a fun and safe trip.

If you need to know what/where to go in San Antonio give me a holler. I live in Boerne but I work in SA

So...what hotels allow cats? My daughter has a pug dog and we have a heck of a time finding hotels where we can "sneak" him in the back way...usually those "Home front" types with kitchens in the rooms! :)

Thanks everyone!

Crowelli, it's a welcome to :)

Connie: I know for sure Motel 6 allows pets and several others do too.

I used this site to find pet friendly motels:
