As many of you know, I have a new home! I'm looking for berry plants... blueberry, red raspberry, currants, wineberries, etc... you get the drift. However, since I have no garden here yet I have nothing to trade unless I could trade off some of my old age.
Quite a few of you owe me plants from the last 2 years and I never even kept a list. You probably know who you are, LOL.
Wanted: Berry plants
Hello darius,
I have some red raspberries that came with the house not very large, but sweet. Let me know if you'd like some.
Is the Pope Catholic? Of Course I'd like some!!
If I look very closely, I may find some more thornless blackberry plants if that is one you might be wanting.
Louise
Yes, yes, yes!
I'm in the address exchange.
Hi darius,
I have Reveille Red Raspberry (Rubus "Reveille") which is a summer bearing berry.
I also have a raspberry that bears fruit in the fall. I don't know the name of that one.
I'm happy to send you some if someone can give me a few tips on how to ship them.
Do I trim them to a certain height? Do I wash and trim the roots?
I'm not a big plant trader as my gardens are still quite young. However, I've been the recipient of a few trades for postage and am so happy to see your post. Now I can actually return the favor to someone in the DG family!!
LoraB.
Lora, I used to ship small berry plants (babies) so I've even had to cut them back. I just leave a little soil on the roots, dampen and wrap in plastic wrap. I believe there is a very good tutorial on shipping plants under the "Extras" tabs on the DG home page.
Hi darius, Would you be interested in some everbearing strawberries? I need to thin them out. I'd be glad to send you some for postage...Kathy
Kathy,
If you have a few extra of those, would you consider sharing them with me.
I've been trying to trade for those, but no luck so far. I got some seeds, but
last year I tried that and did not get any plant that survived. I got more seeds,
but don't hold high hopes.
Darius,
If you'd like to try some of my alpine strawberry seeds, I'll add them to the package.
enya_34, I have enough to share for the both of you. Dmail me and we'll work out the details.
Kathy, yes I'd love some strawberries! My granddaddy raised strawberries and living with him was wonderful. :)
"wineberries"?
Cool. That's a new one for me. The fuzziness looks very ornamental.
Around here if I was to speak of wineberries folks would probably assume I was talking about grapes. :)
