those yellow mushrooms

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

Here is a picture of the mushrooms/toadstools I'd mentioned before, growing in my pot of oregano. I just pull them up and compost them.

Interesting mushrooms!!!!

I saw some yellow ones in courtyard one time. What does that mean? Where do the yellow ones come from?

I guess it's just another variety. My county extension agent didn't have an ID for them, and I have never seen them except for in the oregano and once in a mint that's right by the oregano. I suspect the spores were in the potting soil, and conditions just got perfect for them. But these show up every few days. I hope to transplant the oregano to the ground when it gets a little cooler (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA it'll never get cool here) and it might change the conditions enough that it won't keep growing.

Those are exactly the mushrooms that grow in my pots on the front porch.

Brigidilly that is exactly where I saw my yellow mushrooms ... in the barrel with the herbs, mints and lemon balm. Must be something about the herbs that make them turn yellow. Actually I dont think I have seen mushrooms out there before these.

I have them growing in a plumeria. They are sure yellow.

They're pretty at first. I neglected to pull them out and they got ugly, slimy, and gray really fast. I wonder whether they're edible. They don't turn purple when you pinch them, so they're not "that" kind of shroom.

Brig dont try eating them ... remember back in the sixties they were used for Hallugenic(sp drugs?

Yeah, that's the kind of mushrooms they're not. And if you're anywhere near cattle (which you are) I guarantee you they're still being used. Ah, well. We just won't learn, will we?

Well...glad to see that I'm not the only one out there with these little rascals growing in weird places..lol... And speaking of yellow .... I have a yellow mildewy looking fungus taking over the potting soils of some plants. It ends up coming out of the bottom hole looking like tiny yellow balls... Surely it isn't good for my plants? It even lives in the soil when bone dry...such as the case with my bishop's cap cactus. I'm worried this stuff may harm it...and its a real dear plant to me.. : /

TxT, I've never seen one like that. Can you get a picture, and maybe we can ID it?

(To let you know what I'm up against, my fella would suggest bleach...)
