Sprawled Legs

Smithville, Canada

I have a little chick here that seems to have a problem keeping it's feet under itself. Anything to be done about it?

Sometimes ya have to build a splint between the two feet to keep them together and still let the chick walk around..kinda like a figure 8 but sideways..made of small wire...
Is the chick walking on smooth surface of some sort? if it is..ya need to put down some kind of rough surface like papertowel for it to walk on..

What I've some times done, and It usually works is to use a bandaid....sounds weird but it works

Take a bandaid, cut it lengthwise, the pad part of it is usually the correct distance for their legs to be apart
this is easier if someone holds the chick while you apply it
Put one leg at the edge of the pad and the other leg at the other edge
wrap the adhisive part of the bandaid over onto the pad
It sometimes take a day or to for them to adjust to walking
and it works best if you do it as soon as they are hatched

I do have the bottom of the box that they're in lined with news paper and then paper towels on top.
I'll try the bandaid. How long would it need to be on?

as long as it takes......
you may have to reapply evey few days
It could take as long as a month
