Brugs still on vacation ...

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

This has been the worst year for Brugs I have ever seen. Only two trees bloomed, and not very much. They form buds that get to about 1 - 2 inches then the buds fall off. The Datura, Roses and Canna on the other hand are doing ok .. I really hope that when it starts cooling off the Brugs will come back!

Anyone else have a Brugless Summer?

I can't say that I have had a brugless summer. I had a lot of blooms not so long ago. I haven't noticed anything putting on many buds since though. The weather here has really cooled off and I am hoping that the buds will start getting going again real soon. The temp was a sweet 51 degrees when I went to work at 6:30 this morning.

I have noticed not so many pics this year being posted as the last couple of yrs. I think the heat has really been taking a toll on everything. Everything looked so run down over the last couple of weeks but things are looking better now.

I agree...the heat has really taken it's toll on stuff. Although my night blooming cereus has LOVED it. Been blooming for me all summer with the blooms still open in the morning for awhile. go figure!

Oh Ginger, do you have a picture of your night blooming cereus? i didn't realize they bloomed continuously.

Well I have been having the worst 6 weeks. This is the worst summer ever for my plants. Partly it is my fault, I have not been tending my yard as I have in the past and the rest is this terrible weather. It started with the daily rain in early spring that went on for days and set me way back and then the recent hot spell just fried everything. I am ready for this year to be over.

Hey Dott, you are one of the few that has had incredible flowers. I am so envious!
