I went to a nursery today and bought a butterfly bush on sale. Once I got home, I took the bush out of my car, and before I could set it down to decide where to plant it, this guy lands on it -- before I even put the pot on the ground! Very cited to see the hummingbird moth. In fact, as I type, he's back. :)

I discovered those the year we planted our butterfly bushes. I love those guys, and they could care less whether they're being watched or not. They fly right past may hand while I'm deadheading and feed next to me. I think the butterfly bush is more for them than for butterflies, although this year I'm getting tiger swallows and monarchs, so can't complain.
Lily that is Hummingbird Clearwing one of our day Moths
cool! nice to have one you don't have to chase for a change.
I wondered what those were called! The first time I saw one, I thought it was some type of bee, but I noticed that its body wasn't really bee-shaped, once I got closer to look.
They do kinda remind you of hummers, don't they, with the way their wings beat so rapidly?
Oh, I was totally freaked out the first time I saw one. I thought it was some horrible type of bumblebee!
I did some googling last night and found that these are also known as "bumblebee moths."
Hopefully he'll be back today so I can get some more pictures.
