H. cumingiana

It seems this one is rather hard to get to bloom (I have a huge one that has never bloomed in 3 years) however, when it does, they last a long time. The bloom I got on August 1st on my smaller one has finally dropped off. There was another one on that plant that opened a few days later, and it is STILL hanging on, looking good, and still smells strong.
It seems this is one that the blooms not only smell in the middle of the day, but the smell lasts throughout its cycle, whereas on ones like lacunosa, as the days go by the smell gets less and less, and many of them you can only detect smell in the evening or eartly morning hours.
Do any of you have observations like this?

Hmmmmm, never noticed it on my lacunosas...but that is probably why sometimes I can't smell a blossom that did smell before. Thanks for that, Marcy...I will pay attention.

I find the same thing on H. cumingiana: they take their sweet time blooming, sometimes....and when they get going it goes and goes and goes. I do find they like really bright indirect light...I have one in full sun all day and while the leaves look horrible...it blooms all the time!!!! It is planted out in the garden. Ed once told me to do that...that when he saw it, it was growing over a rock out in the full sun....
