big green grub

Hawkesbury, ON(Zone 4b)

I was mowing my grass and found this fellow. It is hard to see in the pic but it has yellow things that stand up on top and florescent blue things on the side. Sure would like to know what it is before I either let it go or eliminate it.

Give us a hint. What did you find it on? ...........those are centimeters, right?......

I found it on the grass and nooooooooo it is inches, it is the biggest larvae I have ever seen. Help

No butterfy host plants close by? Inches, now I'd be worried. Eeeew. Did you put this in the garden foes forum too?

Thanks to all of you. Yes it is a caterpillar of the Cecropia Moth. I am so happy that I did not throw it in the river like my neighbour wanted me to. It is beautiful and not destructive. I let it go this morning where I found it.
