This is my first year with these ... I have a few species .. I just wanted to ask those who know .. what are the easiest species to grow for cold northerner gardeners ?
Chris
Any Arisaema fans ?
I love them and am waiting to see which last the winter. I bought four different ones at a local nursery at $10 each. I think one of them has died back and the others are still doing fine. I hope they are truly hardy as I have always wanted to grow them!
Chris

Thanks for the new forum
Hi Chris
They are looking really fine! I'm going through this new forum enjoying what I see.
I need to get some pics of the ones you traded with me last year and share them.
I found this that might be interesting to some of you.

Aroid Hardiness list
Hi Chris,
Since the recently defunct Heronswood was in WA also there should be a fairly large number of Arisaema available to you.
Many are pretty tough to get going though.
I'd start slow and get ones known to be very hardy in your area.
They are fascinating plants. Enjoy!

hey all -
Kin- thanks for the hardiness chart ... that will come in useful. Iam trying to get a nice collection of cold growing Aroids so that I have plants who dont Die on me !! I managed to get some amorphs from Thailand .... and they just puttered under the soil and didnt do anything for me ... I still have one under the soil! .. I love Aroids ... I just dont like the ones that cost too much then DIE!!
Henryr10- I actually never heard about that nursery until it was talked about here... The only Species of Arisaema I can find are the two Us native species... at least in local nurseries.
Chris
Kin thanks for that website. It sure will come in handy for me. I'm new to Aroids. The only thing I know anything about is Elephant Ears. lol I want to learn about these plants and add some to my gardens even if in pots. I have green and black EEs and a Taro that is heart shaped with big leaf in green/black. I love the look of these plants. I'm in zone 8b so I have no idea what all I can grow. Many of the names I see used on this forum I've never even heard of before. ;) But I'm willing to learn.
