I guess we can say we are in the "Dog Day's of Summer" since we are at the start of August. In my part of the woods kids have just started back to school and the humidity matchs their spirits. They are both soaring high.
Plants are suffering in the worst way since we have had so much rain and the heat tends to "Cook" the poor things in their pots.....
I can't wait until the cooler September days when you can work in the yard without hoseing your self down every 5-10 minutes. Jezzie makes good use of the sprinkler when she needs to cool down.
What do your pets do to "Beat the Heat?"

Hot, Hot, DOG GONE HOT.....
Officially, today is the last dog day of the year. And in case anyone didn't know, the term comes from astronomy. The Dog Days are when the constellation Sirius is (I think) visible north of the equator. Gives the Harry Potter fans something to think about!
My dog cools off by staying inside. Wuss.
ww, that's cute!
My cats sleep more.......maybe 22 hours a day versus 21 lol
Those are the CUTEST doggie pics....!!
My cat likes the water, but only on his own terms. Which means....if I leave the lid up on the toilet, he will decide to dabble in the water! If I take a bath and drain the water, he will plop down in the damp tub. If the water is running, he will slap his paw through it a few time until bored.
toooooo cute :D
It's a dern good thang we don't spoil our pets around here huh?
LOL........Connie what a laid back Cat you have there......now that one is a couch potato for sure, podster that is one relaxed Dog...........
Bless his tired bones....................LOL
He sure looks content........
:o)
Ralph says he'll be there as long as it's cool and or wet....
Oh yea and he'll supply the tennis balls!
Great pictures of all your 'kids'!
If I could have some snow right now I would shovel it with my nose just because it would feel ssssoooooo good!
Yes the snow would be welcomed right now since it is soooo hot. I guess the water will just have to do.
Love the last photo and that dog looks like hes not going to get to close......LOL
Great photos all.....

My daughter and I love the pictures of your darling dog in the sprinkler! Our little Italian Greyhound does anything and everything to avoid water.
Thanks for posting those thoroughly enjoyable photos!
Just wondering if she has a really spunky personality? She looks like she does.
How cute! I love her name. The Boston that I'm familiar with is my parent's dog. Her name is Button. She also loves water.
Yes Jezzie does need a playmate. They have a lot of energy.
It's been so hot for the pets that I have been putting ice cubes in their water container and also in their food bowls so they can get cooled off a little bit. Our dogs love ice cubes. They will lick those cubes till it's all gone. I also have a wading pool for them. Only two of our dogs will get in it to cool off, one of the blue heelers and our terrier.
Yes this dog is a ball of fire almost 24/7. She is still when she sleeps and thats about all the rest of the time it is go, go, go and she is always ready for a game of tug of war, fetching a ball or playing in water. Sometimes she drives Sassy crazy and if we leave I seperate them so Sassy won't get over run. Jezzie can can be demading. So we are looking for another that can keep up with her and give us all a break to.
She is also a very good swimmer as I found out over the weekend. Kinda figure she was but didn't know for sure, most dogs are but she didn't have an oppertunity to swim until now.
Hello All! I am new to the group..and fairly new at gardening! We moved to the Texas Coast about 2 and half yrs ago as my husband's company transferred him here to Ingleside(bout 20 mins from Corpus.moved from the Conroe area) Well, THAT changed when another company came in and contracted my husband's. The contracting company made an offer to my husband, he..WE..couldnt refuse! They build satellite receivers for our military. They look like a HUGE golf ball! Also, they build and install massive telescopes.(think Hubble). Sooo, with the new job, Aaron(hubby)travels worldwide. I stay close to home because we have a 2 and half yr old grandson and a baby girl due in just over 2 weeks! Aaron is currently in South America, The Chilean Andes, working. He will be home in 13 days!! YIPPPEEE!!! Since he has been gone, I have discovered a new love!!! MY PLANTS!!! I am soooo eager to learn..and hope you all will be patient as I ask for help and advice!...Oh..and I guess you can tell, I do love to talk! LOL! Thanks in advance!..WW..I am a Boston's Mom, too!
