I too have recieved huge cuttings and read all the info on rooting them, but one cutting has buds. Do I remove them also?
I got two Celadine, one pink, and one red. They all have two and three tips and are 24 inches long.
Melanie
Clare, I love your Duchess brug. She is just awesome!!
Another question??
If you do remove the inflo, try rooting it as well.
IF it roots you will have a clone of the mother plant.
This is unsussual, but happens
I had one rooting for me but it dried up while I was in the hospital in early '05
My sons took great care of my plants but that one was hidden behind another pot.
OH WELL!! ;^)
Congrats Melanie! and good luck rooting them!!
Congratulations on scoring such amazing cuttings. I am a new plumie grower myself but I am pretty sure you have more options with those large cuttings.
I do not remove the info if she is still growing it because i had them flowered many times when they are big cuttings..
The flowers however won't be normal size most of the time but a little smaller..
It's up to you really because with a big cutting you have so much energy store in her
that it won't really matter..
On a small cutting i don't cut off the info but rather pinch it with a clamp to force the energy
back down to her bottom..
Thanks, Melanie! You are so sweet! She was named after my Great Dane who died in January, 2005.
Congrats on your new acquisitions. Let me ask you this: which one has the inflo? Everyone gave you good advice here. It is really up to you whether to cut the inflo off or not.
If it is on the Celadine or pink, I would leave it alone. If it is on the red, I would cut it off. I almost never give advice to cut it off, and I almost never cut it off myself, but recently, I did cut one off a Singapore, which can be difficult to get to root. Reds can be difficult to root also, but Ardesia and Robert are right that large cuttings should root quickly for you, and in this current warm season, I don't think you will have any trouble rooting them with or without inflo's.
