Is there a list of all the micro-mini AVs somewhere? I've looked and I can find one or two here and there, but I'd like to see a list of all the micros. I'm totally smitten by Teeny Bopper and am hoping to get one soon, but couldn't help wondering what other micros there are.
Thanks!
Micro mini AVs...
I know of a few:
Amoeba, Teeny Bopper, Pip Squeek, Little Jayhawker, Lil Thunderbird, Spring Peach, and Midget Bon Bon. I am sure there are more.
I have Lil Thornbird. She's a little doll, so tiny.

Hi Amy,
I would like to know that too....I checked in FC2 and there are no micro-mini's listed in the search feature anyway.
Joanne
How about 'Rob's Twinkle Blue'? A perfect little micro mini showplant at about 2" across. Too cute!
Hi,
I found another one...Tiny Moon Goddess.
Joanne
Oh those tiny ones are adorable!
I have a few of one NOID it's name tag was lost and it is itty bitty!
I'm trying to get it to bloom for me so I "might guess" at it's real ID..lol
I have Rob's Twinkle Pink...& not sure if the others are just minis??
MsC
I have Rob's zippity doo...and it's really tiny. I'm not sure how it's classified though...
Love the tiny ones, too!
Hi,
Rob's Zippity Doo is classed as a miniature in FC2...
Rob's Zippity Doo (8465) 05/23/1996 (R. Robinson) Semidouble dark rose-pink sticktite/dark ruby-red overlay. Mosaic variegated medium green and gold, pointed. Miniature
The color of the flower is FC2 is so vibrant.
I am going to compile a listing from what everyone has shared so far.
Joanne
Hello,
Rob's Twinkle Blue is classified as a miniature in FC2....wonder what the difference would be from a micro? I bet it is just whatever the person that registers it calls it.
Joanne
Ummmmmm....I just looked up Tiny Moon Goodess and it is classified as a miniature in FC2!
Well so much for that one....I will see if I can find someone in some of my other violet groups that has a listing.
Joanne
Joanne...to the best of my knowledge, the AVSA does not have a separate category for 'micro miniatures' only 'miniatures' which are plants that can be shown at 6" or less. Some miniatures are very tiny and can mature at the 2-3" size and are commonly called 'micro minis' to denote extra small growing miniatures. Rob refers to his 'Rob's Twinkle Blue' as a micro miniature on his website due to it's very tiny size (matures at 2-3") but is registered as a miniature and listed as such in the AVSA Master Variety List/First Class II software.
Hope this helps....
Hi,
Oh that is good to know...I am going to do a search for micro mini in FC2 and see what I get.
Joanne
Thank you all for the great list of names! I've got quite a few to look for now. :o) I don't have FC so I couldn't look them up in there, but I had noticed that there didn't seem to be a designation on the websites between mini and micromini. Teeny Bopper was listed in with the minis and at the end it said "tiny".
Joanne, I think Snowrose was trying to point out that "micro mini" is not searchable in FC... you see "micro miniature" in catalog descriptions, but it's not part of the official registered description.
'Teeny Bopper' is definitely the tiniest one I've seen so far. The first 'Marion's Enchanted Trail' plant that I had was one that I would describe as a miniature, but the replacement plant I picked up (from a different vendor) is one that I'd describe as a micro-mini.... go figure... who knows, maybe it will grow.
Some of Rob's trailers seem to have exceptionally tiny leaves, but mine are still little plantlets, so maybe they'll get less "micro" in appearance with time.
Joanne...please read my post once again. I may not have been clear enough. The AVSA does NOT have a category 'micro miniature'.....only 'miniature'. That is why plants that may grow as 'micros' will be registered as 'miniatures'. 'Micro miniature' is just a common way to refer to plants that grow extra small but is not an official category.
Hi Critter,
Oh I understood that but maybe I sounded like I didn't. I found that I could not search for micro mini or micro-mini or micro or mini....but thanks a bunch for clarifying it for me. Sometimes I am a little slow to grasp things....LOL!
I just bought this tiny Episcia called Christmas Cheer...not to change the subject but it is so very cute.
I have Teeny Bopper and it wasn't doing so great until I put it in a dandy pot and it is doing wonderful now!
I love Rob's trailers!
Good luck with your Marion's Enchanted Trail...I have never heard of that one.
Joanne
Hi there,
LOL!!!! Now that I re-read your post I see you told me that before I said I will go search....LOL!!!
Sometimes I just don't get it.
Thanks a bunch.
Joanne
Hey RainGazer,
If you need any descriptions, just holler!
Joanne
Thanks Joanne! I found one earlier today I wanted a description for, but now can't remember which one it was! LOL I'll give you a holler if I think of it. :o)
Glad we got this straightened out ;0)
LOL!! Yes me too. Thanks again.
Joanne

Oh wow! Thank you so much! I hate that you had to go to all that trouble to do each one individually. You're so sweet to have taken the time!
I'll have such fun looking these up. Many of those names I don't even recognize. I love adding to my wishlist! ;o)
What a fun list!! Joanne, thanks so much for taking the time to search those out and copy them!
I do have 'Peppermint Girl', and I'm not sure the foliage is any smaller than my other girl leaf minis ('Silly Girl', 'Cloud Puff', etc). However, it's interesting to note how size can vary from one plant to another... My original plant of 'Madeline' (also a girl leaf mini) was about the same leaf size as the others, but several of the offspring I'm now growing on in 2 inch pots have crowns with lots of tiny leaves, much smaller than those of the original, although I still would not class it as a micro-mini.
Oh you are most welcome...didn't take that long and I was determined to figure out a way to do it.
Do you grow them all in 2 inch or 2.5 inch pots critter?
I wish they all had pictures though, love looking at the pictures and wishing I had some more room...LOL!
I have Silly Girl too but it is quite small yet.
Joanne
I don't think any of my minis are in larger than a 2 inch pot, and some are in smaller pots. Little thumbprint pots (I actually use 1 oz plastic condiment cups with a hole poked in the bottom) seem to work really well for the smaller ones, while others are happier in 3 oz plastic cups, which I think equate to about a 1 1/2 inch pot, although the cups are a little deeper.
Wishing I had more room is how I got into the wondrous world of miniature AVs! LOL, still running out of space...
That is exactly why I am leaning that way as well! So many wants but so little space.
I had a gal send me some of those condiment cups from the US and they are wonderful. I have started smaller leaves in them too.
Well we got a rain/thunder storm happening here so I think I will call it a night!
Sweet dreams everyone and don't forget BINGO tomorrow!
Joanne
I got my 1 oz cups in Winston-Salem, NC... and haven't been able to find any locally, so I'm bleaching and reusing them!
I will buy *2* big packages of them when we visit my in-laws at the end of September! LOL, maybe I will include a stack of them as one of my Bingo prizes when I host....
I looked up 1 oz cups on eBay and all I found were the plastic medicine dose cups. Would those work if I couldn't find the condiment cups?
And where do you find your 5 oz cups, critter? I can only find 3 oz, 3.5 oz, and then 9 oz.
I think the medicine dose cups are probably the ones. I got mine at a restaurant supply place, LOL. There are also 2 oz condiment cups (shallow for their width) that would probably work fabulously for tiny trailers.
The 5 oz cups were purchased at the same store in NC. I found 6 oz. plastic cups locally, but they're about an inch taller, and so not quite as good I think.
BTW, I've recently discovered that the black plastic containers that Chick-Fil-A uses for their large cole slaw are *perfect* pots for miniature trailers as they mature and start to spread out. They are about 4 inches wide but fairly shallow. As a bonus, they fit perfectly inside a couple of decorative containers that I have and inside some shallow 4 inch clay pots that I found at a local nursery (better than planting directly in the clay pot).
Hey Critter or anyone interested, I found the 1 oz. plastic souffle cups by Solo Cup at acemart.com - They are offered at 250 for $3.75 plus shipping (1 lb. weight). They look as if they would be a perfect little pot and the price seems reasonable to me. Other types and sizes are offered as well.
Good you have a place to pick yours up directly, Critter.
There are many Micro Mini's but not a catorgory in FC. BUT Yes many say Tiny but there are many that don't.
Any Semi-and Mini's can be grown as Micro's
Rob use to say Micro Mini on a lot of his listings now he puts " Tiny Tiny :))
He also puts Rob's Zippity Doo as below.. I bought it as it's his only Mosaic and love that variegation best ! It's the most stable. And beautiful different !
I knew Jacki loves Mosaic so much also so I sent my plant to her to go with some others I share with her. It does grow on the small side.
A mini Av is 4-6 inches and below at adult growth is concidered Miniature.
Then Semi-mini is 6-8 inches.
Rob's Zippity Doo. Our only hybrid with "mosaic" variegation means this is a very unusual plant that will be unique in most any collection. Nearly-florescent sdbl. rose-pink w/frosted overlay of deep-deep ruby. Very different mini
