Do you think she'll be setting or has she already started to do that? I haven t had much dealings with Guineas , but sure would like to have some! My last little ones got adopted by an old PBRock, then the neighbors Dogs ended them! Hope your little Covey (?) makes it!
I have about 25 hens and 7 roosters that just run my 20 acres + my neighbors property. They usually hatch about a hundred chicks a year. And about 5 survive. I have tryed to keep them penned up until they are large, but then they do not have the surviver skills and get eaten anyways. So now I just let nature take its course. Lot less stress on me. John

What does setting mean?
Eric, setting is when the hen sits on the eggs to start the incubation period. Which is around 28 days. John
How old are your hens?
Eric, they range from 1 to 6 years. Several of them will lay their eggs in the same nest but only one will do the setting. The others will start another hidden nest somewhere else. John
Carrjohn has anyone started settin this nest yet?
No, Eufaula, I went out to check this morning and I guess I have a large black snake, or a king snake. Over half of the eggs are missing without a trace. Has to be a snake because an animal will leave empty shells. But thats life out here in the boonies. John
