I've been checking up on everyone and I'm surprized not many of you have a Journal and/or Diary started on DG.
I have tried starting a few Garden Journals on my own, one I bought, one was just a notebook and the other was on my computer with pictures, none of them worked as far as keeping them up.
I'm finding DG is easier for me. Check mine out by clicking on my name to the left.
I know everyone is busy but....... what's your excuse? LOL
Journals & Diaries
I have NO excuses, however working 12-16 hr days writing all day keeps me away from writing too much, I do keep a "photo journal", lots and lots of pictures ~ and they do say pix speaks louder than words! :)
Does it count that I've started "titles" to photo albums? LOL
Working that much doesn't leave much gardening time, Bec : (
Chantell, you do have some cute titles. : )
LOL - yeah, now if I can get something put under them...LOL PalmBob has the best stuff on his...that was what motivated me to begin with!! Now I can start lurking on other folks!! :)
I must agree with you, PalmBob has an interesting Journal, It has a different approach, more of a landscaping journal.
Mine is a plant collector's journal. I have more plants then whats listed but forgot the offical names for them, I guess I could start an entry for No Name Daylilies. Now that's an idea !! LOL
I've asked for a subscription for my birthday in Sept. Not before, because I really need to be focused on starting off the school year with a schedule for the kids-yeah right. and the pta volunteering stuff. BUT when I get signed up I think I'll look at them. I also have the no-name varieties of daffodils etc( Mom's multiplier, Peachy, Dad's lavendar iris..Smaller purple iris...)
Hi Sallyg. Hope you get your birthday present! You don't need it to start your journal, but a subscription makes it more fun : ) I can do all the plant searching I want to now.
I found out searching and adding the plants to the journal is easy and then go back into your journal and update the entry.
It's a good activity on a rainy day when you can't be out in the garden. LOL
Chris
Hi Chris Thanks for the encouragement. For me and others maybe, is there a difference between diary and journal? What do you enjoy about checking others?
have a small notebook in which I've kept some notes about new plants, failed attempts, notes from books about things i might try......I suppose all this has a place in a journal along with pics if I have them..?
Sally, I started my Journal first, It keeps a list of my plants and how they are doing. For instance I always grow Early Girl tomato, this year I also grew Better Boys, I found the Better Boys had blossom end rot so I made a note not to plant again. I also like to place photos of my plants in the journal.
When you are looking at the plantfiles it is easy to add the plant to your journal. Just click "add to your journal"
The diary is more of keeping garden thoughts, Like " Next year I need to plant more low growing annuals to the corner garden the will add more color" The diary will date your entry. Haven't made to many entries in my diary.
I like looking at other members journals, it's like taking a walk through their gardens and learning more about the plants.
I did try the notebook thing but it didn't work for me.
Okey dokey; it sounds interesting. Now if Only we coud Get a rainy day.......................and don't expect anything 1/100th of palmbob's! talk about variety. then there are the watercolors. meanwhile here's my first find of monarch CPs this year. There are two in the pic if you look closely.....haven't previewed cross fingers on the focus
Check for my journal/diary any day now!
Sally, Like your monarch cats. I have been reading the Hummingbird & Butterfly forum there are members that raise their cats in cages to protect them till they turn into butterflies. I need to do that next year!
Can't wait to read your journal : )
Chris
