photos from Laurie's turf

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

hi guys,

I'm here in No Cal right now, and Laurie (begoniacrazii) took me on a tour of Strybing Arboretum and the Conservatory of Flowers (both in Golden Gate Park).... and then she took me up to California Carnivores! wow, what a day!!!

I've been on a photo binge, but for some silly reason, I don't have too many of gessies..... You can see the Cal photos in the first 4 sets on this page. http://flickr.com/photos/ki/sets/ - lots of succulents and carnivorous plants and things like that.

But here's a pic of an Aeschynanthus at the Conservatory of Flowers.

and here's another gessie at the Conservatory - a codonanthe dangling over water.

By the way, laurie is great! and so totally into plants :-) but you all knew that.

and not only that, she sent me home with a tray of plants :-)

This is a Codonathanthus (codonanthe crossed with a nematanthus) in the Strybing greenhouse.

they have a codonanthe carnosa with huge flowers - and very white as well.

One more - an aeschynanthus, also in the Strybing greenhouse.

I kinda feel like I overdosed that day - so much to take in.

If you have time on your hands, check out my other photos from Strybing, the Conservatory, California Carnivores, and also from the Univ. of California Botanical Garden in Berkeley. http://flickr.com/photos/ki/sets/
