Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

These are some of the caladiums I got from Buried Treasure recently when they had their sale. They came up immediatly and are looking good.

Great caladium. I just got one of those at Home Depot yesterday for $4.

'Thai Beauty'.

Here is the other beauty I got but I don't know the name. It is next to 'Little Miss Muffet'.

Beautiful. I love em.

I got some of those Thai Caladiums too and the ones that came up first are really beautiful. All are up now but some are a bit smaller then others (and I remember buying some minatures).

ok I wanna know why MY home depot doesn't have those pretty plants! They only ever have the plain old regular kind.

hcmcdole:

If you bought your's at Home Depot, it's most likely Pink Symphony and not a Thai Beauty(It looks like Pink Symphony). The Pink Symphony looks a lot like the Thai but it's a domestic variety. The Thai's are nice but there a little expensive.
I always say, "Why buy Thai when you can buy American"
Here's a pic of one my Pink Symphony's. As the plant matures, it will develop a little more green in it

Cool! Do you know the name of the other one?

I got my Thai's from the Classified forum right here on DG. They were very inexpensive.

Here are some of my caladiums. This pot was supposed to be Pink Gem, but turned out to be mixed. It was beautiiful though, but since the bulbs were planted early, and it is so hot here, they are already starting to die back.

I purchased these from Bill on Ebay. I've forgotten the names though. They are planted in full sun and doing well in our over 100 deg. weather. Can't believe it.

I love this one I got from Bill called Florida Sweetheart. He sent so many extras that I even gave some to 2 of my daughters.

Bill sent me Pink Symphony and I didn't get them planted until about 10 days ago, so hope they turn out like his. All the Pink Symphony caladiums that I have planted in the past look like his, but the ones I purchased locally this year look different. Here are those.

This is a pot of caladiums that I purchased at Lowe's that was tagged Sorbet. They look just like the above pot of Pink Symphony to me. The picture is so washed out that you can't tell that they are pink. They look white.

I LOVE your first pic grannie. I didn't think these could take full sun? I have always planted any in part shade.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I always thought they were only shade plants as well. Whichever variety this is, the description said it could take full sun. I thought I'd try it, but really thought in our hot South Texas sun they will completely wilt. I've been really surprised. Maybe Bill can come along and verify the variety.

This is the only caladium I grow. Stays small, always perky, is the last to go down in the fall and mutliplies real fast. No matter what the weather, dry or wet, blazing hot or on the cool side it grows.
