Slightly OT: Ordering from David Liddle

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

So, some people in the Western US want to place an order with David Liddle, and since I seem to be the most centrally-located I have been "elected" to try and coordinate this little happy dance extravaganza.

There are 4 people who are "in" on the order, but in order to make it cost effective there really needs to be at least 10 people (phytosanitary certificate is approx. $100) - obviously, the more people who order, the less the associated costs per person. What we would do is each place an order with DL, tell him it is part of a group order, he will figure out how much each person owes him, and then each person pays him (apparently he now has paypal). In September he ships the cuttings (probably to me) already bagged separately for each person, then I turn around and mail your cuttings to you (which means you also have to pay me for mailing costs from me to you).

Liddle's cuttings (apparently they are big enough to make several cuttings), run around $6.50 each. If you would like to take a look at his catalogue, send me a d-mail with your e-mail address and I will forward a copy of it to you (thanks to Carol for providing the catalogue) via e-mail.

If you are interested, let me know. I would like to know the total number of interested folks by Monday, August 14.

I'm in, Ann. Is the catalog still the spring '06 one?
Thanks for "getting elected",

Hi, Mark. I'm not sure (he doesn't have a date on it except 2006), so I'm going to send it off to you via e-mail.

Do you have to be in the Western U.S.?

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

pdoyle23323 and Kabob, you are welcome to order! Just remember it will take a day or two longer to get to you.
Send me a d-mail with your email address and I'll send you a copy of the catalogue.

Carol, thank you so much for the generous offer for the import permit. I agree with Sandy, we might need to "borrow" it and replace it with a new one.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

I would be glad to. Let me check with USDA here...because the Permit, which goes on the outside of the box, has the Honolulu address on it...and it might mess things up. Will get back to you.

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Please count me in because I won't be able to stand it later on if I don't get a little something!

I think I have the 2006 catalog on my home PC. Will d-mail you if I can't find it?

Muchas gracias Ann!

Macon, IL(Zone 5b)

Tami, think of it this way, you can seeth with jealousy when we get our goodies, then we can seeth with jealousy when you get yours in the spring. I'm, of course, going to be green with envy when I see what other's ordered and I didn't (thinking to myself, "dang, I should have got that one too"). I have long told Christina how jealous I am of all her plants. Well, I've been going through old threads where she's posted photos of blooms and I am going to get myself of a couple - the trick, of course, will be to see if I can ever get any of them to bloom as pretty as hers.

Ann, I know what you mean. When I was figuring out what I wanted to order, the first place I went to was "My Hoyas" to browse Christinas plants.

Mark, I'm glad I'm not alone (LOL)!

Hey ya know I ordered alot of them from the unidentified species. There are some cool ones in there.

1658 and 1514 are really super fast growers. I have 1400,1398,and 1249 on my spring order.

And yep, I went to Christina's sight too. :)

I have faxed the import certificate request into the USDA, now we just wait to see how long it takes them to approve it.

Nevada, MO(Zone 6a)

I don't think I've ever posted on this forum, but love hoyas, although I only have about 15. Could I possibly join your order even though I live in MO?

Either way, would it be possible to get a copy of the catalog just to see what he has?

Thanks...Stephanie

Toronto, ON(Zone 6a)

Khyro and Bea (mommum), please, check your Dave's Garden's mail.

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Jaime...best idea is to go to various websites and see the pictures...it is hard to list them ALL! Just start at the beginning and make your order...there are bound to be some bigleaves in there!!!

PS Try H. rigida!

New Iberia, LA

I might have missed the post but is there a set limit?

Thanks, Dianne

Chowchilla, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi, Dianne. I want a firm committment from people that they intend to join the order by tomorrow. I will post further instructions from David once I have a chance (took a day trip away from the computer yesterday ... now I have to catch up...)
It's looking like there is going to be a very big group ordering.
Ann

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

Firm committment here! May not be a huge order.....but there's going to be an order.....

Thank you again Ann!

Macon, IL(Zone 5b)
