Hi All...
I'm up way too early....anyone here?
TUESDAY, Aug 8: Texas "Coffee" and Gardening in the Morning
GM Connie,
I am up. I haven't posted on this site for awhile, been so busy. How is Austin this a.m.?
Did you get any rain yesterday? We have had a little the last two days. Sure wish we would get more, I can hardly keep things alive in this heat. Thank goodness we don't have any water restrictions here, just the high water bill - LOL
Not sure how this chat thing works, if you will be replying back right away or not so will send and wait and see.
Good morning! I couldn't sleep and I got tired of just lying there thinking, so I'm up and looking for a distraction. LOL How are all of you today?
Hi, Bareroots...and Marylyn!
I actually fell asleep in front of the TV last night! And I had the "teacher dream" about school....time to go back to work! :)
Austin (where I am) got a sprinkle yesterday...that's all!!
Think you found the right distraction---this wonderful site can get lost for hours in it.
I am great how are you? I went to bed much too early last night so am up before the birds.
I have not been up this early since an early start for a road trip some years ago! Y'all know how it is here in Texas...have to get up at 4:00 to make it across Texas in one day!!
Good Morning Connie,
Is that possible to make it across in one day???
Think we will all be taking naps this afternoon or going to bed early. Hope to see all the morning glories in full bloom this morning. Usually by the time I get outside it is already so warm they have started to close up. When it gets light enough I will go out and take some pictures and post.
Start off our morning with MG's and coffee.
I'm up, but barely. I have grandson to babysit for this week and he'll be here shortly, so I won't have much time for anything else today. It's been so long since my kids were 2 year olds that I'd forgotten just what a bundle of energy they are at that age. I hope I can keep up with him! Hope y'all have a great day and I'll probably see ya' again tomorrow morning.
Oh my, look at y'all!!! I opened the thread expecting Connie to have posted it last night. I see a little rain has everyone anxious to get up and get out in the cool air this morning. If I didn't have to work I would be sitting out in the garden enjoying the birds, etc.
You enjoy your MGs for me too Bareroots and be looking for the pictures. Have fun with the little one Crow, or at least keep your sanity in tact! lol
I will leave you with a pic of my Texas Star that is just beautiful this year. I got it at a swap from Frostweed.
Later, Sheila
I'm here again after going outside to check on things. You should see (or NOT!@) what the deer did to my wonderful purple potato vine that was 6 feet high! Just stripped it on one side! I'm plotting to kill them right now...bow and arrow...poisoned corn...???!!!
I'm falling asleep sitting here (it's the hour, not the company!!) so I am going to go back to bed for an hour. I'll be back later. :-)
Ah...the luxury....(I have it in the summer...I'm not complaining!).
Just went out to water the potted plants...and...it rained some last night!!!
Connie,
How beautiful ! Just love your combination of plants.
Shelia,
Your Texas Star Hibiscus is beautiful. Have you seen the white one?
You all are up and coherant.... bah! My lawn is dying but my coneflowers are happy. My Bluestone perennials in the shade are surviving - but no blooms. Boy do I need help. Now I'm off to work.
And do you see t hat black plastic weighted with rocks? That thang is going to "disappear" down the hill tonight!!! I'm sick of seeing it....and the neighbors can just fetch it up the hill if they want it!! :)
Were I use to live they would eat any plant except daffodils. But don't really know for sure. Fortunately we don't have a deer problem here. I have a dear friend that lives in Austin, I know she had a terrible time with the deer there.
Hope you all have a great day, going to log off for now.
Good morning! Hot and steamy here, but I had a nice time yesterday afternoon in our thunderstorm with the Golden. We sat in her little cottage and watched the garden drink.
Passiflora is going nuts this morning. Two days with two thunderstorms in a row -- must like the nitrogen release from the lightning or something! I went from one open bloom to six in the space of 8 hours. Whoa! So pretty.
Bareroots - I took the mg out of my crape about a week ago. It was only since spring and it was already taking over. And deer around my place ate the tops of all my daffodils last spring.
Connie - what is the dark colored swords?
I haven't been here in a few days. I've been trying to get out early and get some weeding done.
We did get an inch and 1/10th of rain. Oh how we needed it. I hope we can get some more rain pretty soon.
Connie I love your pink crystals ornamental grass. I love ornamental grasses. Especially the colorful ones. I have some, can't remember the name right now, that are blooming. Mine have plume thingys like fountain grass has. The plumes on mine are a sandy pink. I got mine from Plant Delights online nursery.
I'm enjoying all the pretty pics today!
Rabbitts are the main culprits that eat my morning glories. I ordered some stuff that is supposed to keep them away. It must have a smell they don't like.
Wow, I would get up early to see those morning glories too Bareroots! They are georgeous! I haven't seen the white TX Star in person, but they have been posting pics in another thread recently. It is pretty too.
Connie, I love the grasses and your LL bed is so nicely laid out! That deer may have gotten caught in that plastic and pulled it down the hill. (wink!)
Hey Ladygold, I know how you feel, I had to leave for work this morning too. BTW, I know where Farmers Branch is, my Mom lived there once. Sweet little town.
Pretty Passion Vine Susannah, and Puzzle of course, looking good!
Enjoyed dinner and just sitting here watch the boob tube as I type. Too tired today to even go outside when I got home. Looking forward to Friday night for sure!!
