Many people have been wanting to trade with me and I have found little that I need or don't have. But recently I have been interested in looking for new forms of Caster bean I have the red or purple form I am looking for the form that is common green and the dark dark maroon leaf form. I am also looking for the odd stem colored sugar canes. I have the purple stem form of this but I have seen many others in photos that do not seem to be very availible. Anyone out their growing them??
fixed it

Looking for plants Castro Bean and sugar cane
LOL, I thought maybe Castro was a different version, I think you meant Caster. ☺
Anyways, I have a dark maroon leafed one I got from Eclipse, I believe he said it was his cross, even the seed heads match in color. I just collected a few seeds, they are smaller than the usual size, I can send you a few of those. I don't have many yet, am waiting for more to mature.
Kyle's image from 2004: http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=992897
and a recent image I took below.
Brian...I have the native Hawaiian 'black' cane. Would be happy to send you some.
I have the variegated white and green sugarcane...e-mail me if interested..
Brian I have 2 in pots that is about 16 inches tall if you are interested. They looks like Calif_Sue's. I can send you a picture of them if you are interested
brian, mine look like jessmerrit, I have a seedling you are welcome to. LMK. I have been cutting off the seeds, but I notice new ones, so I could send those along also.
About the sugar cane, are there both edible and ornamental varieties? A lot of edible sugar cane is grown around here and sold to the tourists in the fall. I never thought to look at the plants and see what they look like.
AlohaHoya I really need to just talk to you about getting some odd plants. Any chance that you have the weedy Miconia calvescens. I will email you on the others.
As for the castro bean forms if anyone has seeds or small plants willing to ship I can send a plant of equal size to them of colocasia or castro bean or something similar. I am looking manly for something other than what I have. THANKS
WOuld you by andy chance be interested in Hardy Sugar Cane (S. arundinacea)? :D
I might be able to arrange for getting you some for next spring, if so....
BTW, I don't know if you knew, but your web site seems to be down. :(

Are you using briansbotanicals.net or that cloud jungle one? the bbnet works for me.
Well then that needs updating under his Dave's garden info.
BTW, it's Caster bean, not Castro.

This is the site that says Temporarily Down.
This is the older site the new site is BB.net I will be putting links from the older sites to the new site soon. THANKS
Actually, it's spelled Castor Bean, and keep in mind these plants are highly poisonous, since it's the source of ricin, one of the world's most deadly poison. Anyone with children should be exceptionally careful with this plant.
Russ
Oh, Brian, that's why I was having trouble, I went to your DG page and clicked on the link. It does say cloud jungle. I think maybe the link does need to be updated on your DG page. That's how I found your site, maybe others did the same???
Thanks.
Janet

Neal that sounds very interesting. Your also very close you should visit if you really like plants it's probably worth the trip. THANKS
brian, i don't know the names of these, so they may have been mentioned before. I have this purple and green sugar cane with a white stripe running through it. as much sugar cane as i've seen, (we are having our annual sugar cane festival here next month) this one was unique to me. sorry for the poor picture quality.
