thanks for showing me your picture of a Convolvulus Hawk-moth caterpillar. Sorry to be so slow replying, I wanted time to check up on its identity. They are extremely variable caterpillars as you will see from this page: http://tpittaway.tripod.com/sphinx/a_con.htm but I agree that yours is probably a Convolvulus Hawk-moth. It would be good if you could postr it to our page for that moth in BugFiles here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/466/
