Neat looking photos

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I have been playing with PSP lately to see what I could come up with that might be interesting. I have taken various plants, mostly AVs, and used different effects on them to make them different than they usually look. Here are a couple of them. The first one is Aly's Rosy Baby.

This one is an Episcia. I forgot the name of it.

Editted to say that this is a Streptocarpus, not an Episcia.

Thanks Don. I'm trying to find the prettiest ones. There are so many of them.

This one is Ultra Violet Flash. What an interesting way to look at it.

I will post more later today. This is really fun and it helps keep my mind focused on it and not on the surgery. So it is good therapy for me.

This one is AV Clemintine. I used a different effect on this one.

Jesse.

Just too darn kewl...thanks for sharing. Hope you'll do some more for us when you have time. My fav, so far is the Episcia.

Here is the first one that I ever did. It is a beautiful Clivia, aka Kafir Lily. Since the flowers don't last forever, I thought I would make use of them in an artistic way. So here is my Clivia.

Here is another photo of the Clivia, a modified version of the first one.

Here is another effect that I think looks really nice. I am going to be printing some of these and then putting them in a frame and hang them by my desk. This one is Optimara Billy.

Ohhhh, I love Billy! May I have your permission to copy some of these to my computer, Jesse? I would like to use them as wallpaper and screensavers.

Are you all tired of my photos by now? If so I can refer you to my Gallery where I have them all posted. The URL to that is http://photos.jesnjer.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=2800 Feel free to leave comments of any kind, good or bad. I'm always trying to improve so it will not bother me. At least it keeps my mind on something other than my upcoming surgery. One more for you to look at is another version of the Clivia.

Sure Don. You can copy them if they are just for your own personal use and not used in any way to make money. I am using them as my backgrounds on my desktop and laptop, and I want others to enjoy them too.

Thanks Jesse.

I am in awe of your lovely AV's in the very nicely set up Gallery. Congrats. I'd like to do something similar someday, and not have various photos helter skelter in drawers and in computer files scattered everywhere. Nice job!

How's the new house comin'? Got lots of flowers planted outside now?

I planted some new coleus yesterday. Most of the other stuff is all dead I think because of lack of rain. It has been unusually hot here (100+) and has not rained in so long. We sure do need some rain.

Here is another photo that I just made just for you Don. I hope you like it.

Jesse, those are really cool! It's neat to see what happens when you start playing with various filters & effects in your photo software... I know I can spend hours fiddling with an image, and I agree, it's fun & relaxing to do! I love the bright color combinations, especially striking in that strep photo.... Our dollar store sometimes has photo frames in vibrant colors... you might try taking your prints there or somewhere similar to pick out some frames to compliment them... I could see hanging a whole series of them, maybe even connecting them on a ribbon or with metal link-chains for a more "modern" look.

Thanks for posting these! I'm looking foward to browsing the others at the link you posted.

Very cool Jesse.Love them.

Super cool pictures, Jesse! Thanks for sharing them. I've got to look and see if we have that program...

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Very very nice. Can you explain a little to me how you do this?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I use Paint Shop Pro, which is a wonderful graphics program. I used the following "Effects" on them. I used Kaleidoscope, Colored Foil, Page Curl, and Picture Frame. All of these were mostly African Violets that I added the special effects to, and one was of my Kafir Lily in bloom. On some of them, like the first one, I used Page Curl, Colored Foil, and Picture Frame. On the Ultra Violet Flash I used Kaleidoscope and Colored Foil.

If there are any that you would like to know more about, just let me know. You can ask me here or send me a dmail. I will be happy to help you with any of them that you want to know about. Here is a new one that I made that I think is really cool. The four on the left are made using Kaleidoscope, and the four on the right are Kaleidoscope with Colored Foil added. There are so many things you can do with PSP. I am still learning and have a long way to go but at least I have a friend that is helping me along the way.

OK... you have to show us the originals for some of these creations! Especially the last one... I can't imagine what the initial photo might have looked like. Too cool!

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Here is the original photo. It is hard to believe but it is.

Here it is today. Look at the two new leaves on the top. And to think I almost threw this out because I was told it would not root in water. I am planning to take it out of the water and plant it in a pot in a few days. I've been too sick or too busy to do anything lately but things are looking much better now.

Wow, that little cutting sure bounced back beautifully! Amazing. With such a green thumb, I know you'll have that greenhouse crammed with gorgeous plants and seedlings in no time. :-)

Hi Jesse!

Wow, did it ever improve...it is hard to believe it is the same plant...just needed some TLC!

Love the colors of the foliage!

TFS!

Your photos are absolutely fabulous!!

If I may add another one, I think this is one of the best so far. I printed it and hung it up over my desk. This was made with Moses in the Cradle, using Kaleidoscope and Colored Foil effects.

Very cool! The colors and pattern are so striking -- you've got an excellent eye!

And.... may we please see the original photo? That's part of what fascinates me about your pictures, seeing how the image started out!

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure you can see the original. From now on I'll show both, the before and after shots. Here is the original photo of Moses in the Cradle.
