Bird of Paradise in DFW?

Lake Dallas, TX

Will this survive our winters? Last years frost killed half of our Oleand plant but it seems to have grown bacnk and is healthy now.
I was considering "Caesalpinia Mexican or Pulcherrima"

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Toby, I would put it in a pot so you can bring it in in the winter.

Caesalpinia gilliesii, does survive here, but not Pulcherrima, I had one outside and it died last winter, learned my lesson well.

Ah, Josephine you know your plants so well. I wish you would post some pics of your place. Sounds like you have a real nice Texas water wise garden. I'm moving away from the Japanese maples and into something tougher that needs much less water. Most of these xeric plants are tough to find. Do you have a nursery you frequent that carry these types of plants? North Haven gardens in Dallas is the only one I have found so far.

I usually go to Redenta's Garden, here in Arlington.
Well since you asked I will post some scenes from the backyard garden.

Beautiful garden, Josephine! I love your secret walk. I have a 'secret garden' at the back of my yard too.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

It looks so green and cool! Beautiful, Jospehine. My "secret" walks are different: I squeeze through the briars, shinnery, and grape vines and wonder if I can get back out! lol I much prefer yours.

That is too funny Pat.
Thank you very much Everyone.
Josephine.
