I planted a couple of Watermelon seeds in my garden, and was happy to see them sprout. I read the seed packet, and I left plently (so I thought) of room for them to grow.
However, I only have one actual melon growing (he's a little larger than a softball), and the plants are going nuts! Every morning I have to push the plant ends back into the garden. The ends want to grow out on the lawn (they'd get mowed), the cement path (they'd get stomped), and they even want to climb the pool cage (using those cute little tendrils)! I'm not sure if I should be cutting the plant back somehow, or if there is a good way to make the plant behave ;)
Help?
Watermelon plant getting too big?
same problem with pumpkins right now, I had no idea what kind of room they could take up.
These guys both take alot of space. Mine usually spread over 10 feet and in all directions. Never tried cutting them back.
