What is my name?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Is there anyone here who can identify this begonia? I've found a couple that are close, but close doesn't count.

Looks like one I have seen named b. rex 'Merry Christmas' but Butch grows more rexies than I do so he may know for sure.

Here's a link with a decent photo. http://www.begonia-net.com/db/rex/merrychristmas.html

Thank you, Laurie. Now, I'm truly confused. There's one being advertised on ebay and one on this link that is completely different. Would the real Merry Christmas please stand up? Lol.

Colors on rexes can be very variable dependent on light and temperatures. I thought the one I had for a few years resembled the one at the abastro site but it never had a tag (that I remember). Then I got this one labeled as 'Merry Christmas' this winter from an eBay seller.

And here is the one I had previously ID'ed as 'Merry Christmas'.

The one you have looks like the one that has been on the market the last couple of years (Wal-Mart and other stores carry it). It is a beauty but I cannot find the name. I wonder if it might be part of the GAC series?

Here is mine from last year.

hcmcdole, the one you have identified as yours from last year looks like a first cousin to mine. I believe yours has more white/silver than mine, with mine having more of the pink. Thank you for the photos.

I've solved the name mystery of my plant. A begonia bug bit hard last week and I set about finding more plants and ordered this same one again. I am very consistent in my likes so this is not the first time I have bought a plant I already have. Frustrating! Anyway, the name is Stained Glass.

Great that you found it's name, you should post it to Plant Files now!!

Rob's site where he has a photo of begonia 'Stained Glass' looks very different.

Rob's Stained Glass does look very different. My second SG came from Lyndon Lyon Greenhouse so now I'm confused all over again. Lol. Oh well, it's lovely so the name really doesn't matter. I'm not a grower so the confusion will stay with me.

Tussee, your begonia is so lovely. I checked Lyons Stained Glass also and it really doesn't look exactly like the one in question. Here is a photo from Lyons site if I can manage to post it. I think Lyons Stained Glass looks very similar or the same as Rob's. I know it really doesn't matter as yours is a beauty in any case.

While I was checking out Lyons I saw one that caught my eye....Lorraine Closson.

Here is 'Stained Glass' from an eBay seller this past winter.

Snowrose, I ordered Lorraine Closson last week as she caught my eye also. Too many have been catching my eye lately. :)

I have discarded the Stained Glass tag as it is obviously the wrong name. Mix ups do happen but I'm pleased with the plant so all is well. All is not well with me on new Dahlias however. So far, three of seven have flowered wrong, and two others I'll never no because spider mites did them in. There will be no repeat business for that grower!

Tussee, be sure and let us know what you think of Lorraine Closson once you get it. So hard to tell how plants will be until you see them in person.

You know, I was thinking about your mystery plant and started to connect the dots to one I have that is a NOID also. I do beleive they are one in the same. Here is a photo of mine. What do you think?

Yikes on the dahlias!!

Meant to add I bought mine at Home Depot on a whim as I liked it so much.

Snow, they do look the same except yours is prettier.

Here is my new B. Lorraine Closson, and I like her.

Now that I like! I just might have to order that one. Looks like you received a generous healthy plant in perfect condition unlike some mailorder stuff I have received from other vendors. Very pretty! Thanks for posting.

it is a beauty! TFS!!
