Blooms from Today

Geneva, FL(Zone 9b)

Bali Hai Gold is heating up---the scent is finally coming out full force and it IS as described by someone recently as being sweet spice with a major sandalwood component, Unique and lovely perfume! Strong too!

Aussie Pink--with lovely, sweet, floral fragrance! I love the orange and gold swirl in the center and the inflo is getting very large which mature trees are known for: Basketball sized clusters!

Aussie White--very large clusters if 2.5-3" flowers with an almost jasmine, sweet perfume. Very large golden centers that almost make this a yellow instead of a white.

Ozzie Rock Passion--sweet scent, but I can't fogure this one out. It looks almost magenta at times----otherwise deep red. Quite unique.

This is supposed to be Japanese Lantern (??) but the inflo is standing up so far instead of hanging. Nice sweet scent, and I like the curled petals.

You know lol my Japanese Lantern does the same thing funny how yours and mine are blooming at the same time..

Oh a page full of color. Love it. Great photos!!!

Wonderful photos, Brad! Those bloom heads are huge and gorgeous! Thanks so much for posting them. Where did you get your Japanese Lantern? The inflo becomes pendulous in time but is upright when the tree is young; however, your petals do look a bit wider than those that I've seen. Check out Page 18 here: http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/oc/freepubs/pdf/OF-31.pdf Here is a picture below of C-Star's Japanese Lantern.

Thanks ya'll. Clare it was a forum offer a couple of years ago--I think Florida Plumeria Society??? Anyway, someone was offering several cuttings to members. Actually your pic does look quite a bit like it.

BTW--My Mary Helen Eggenberger is blooming and it is really nice! The scent is like grape coolaid to my --reminds me of Bill Moragns Sr, in the scent department. I will post pics later when it cools down enough to wander outside and take pics.

Hi Brad, here's another pic of Japanese Lantern just posted today as a matter of fact over at Pals. I would love to see your MHE picture and am glad to know that it smells like grape coolaid. I love that smell!

Brad, Yours could very well be Japanese Lantern and just looking a little different due to environmental factors. It is hard to say without comparing another side-by-side. Do you know what University Cherry Pink looks like? It may resemble that one as well.

Edited to fix spelling.

Clare in that pdf file those pics are not shot from a good cam or they lost their true color due to compression from the pdf file maker dunno which..
I was looking at the Hilo Beauty next to it and the hilo doesn't have that color she is more blood red to black..
I know graphics and i been using photoshop for many years and i can see flaws in most pics..
Thise pics have vivid colors on or shot with vivid red enhanced added by mistake or just the camera don't know for sure like i said it could be the compression loss it happens all the time on web sites..
This is normal it is done for sizing really and not intentionally..
Everytime i get some flower heads on it rains and knocks them off and now tomm whats left of that storm will brush by us so im sure it's going to get real windy here :(
I am going to post some pics later including my J.Lantern ...

Great shots Brad thanks..

Here is my Japanese Lantern
Shes a looker!!
I had 2 last year
Unfortuatelly they both rotted over the winter.
I liked her a lot as I do all the pendulous types.
I currently have several pendulous seed parent seedlings in red and pink woot!!

Thanks, Robert. That is good to know and yet another reason why it is hard to i.d. cultivars from photographs.

Love your picture, Michael!

Here is another Japanese Lantern pic just posted yesterday on Pals. They must be good bloomers because lots of pictures are showing up.

Stunning Brad! Glad to see you again;-) How does she smell?

Geneva, FL(Zone 9b)

Clare, I heard from others--like candy. To me- it smells like someone mixed the grape coolaid scent of Bill Moragne with the sweet fruitiness of Pink Pansy. Quite strong! I have had a bloom in water for three days now and it still looks fresh and smells wonderful! One person told me recently that this is actually one of the Moragne seedlings that Bill didn't name---who knows??

Here is the latest new Oz (Australian) plumeria: Hooley Doole. I just took this pic of the very first flower to open in my nursery, about 15 minutes ago. Here she is:

Oh---scent is sweet with a hint of cinnamon.

Hooley Doole is awesome!!
So is Mary Helen Eggenberger.
Nice flowers Brad
Are you out of room yet? x^P

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

They are both really stunning, Brad. Hooley Dooly is stealing the show over at Pals. Thanks for the info. about the fragrance of MHE. I am looking forward to this bloom now more than ever. It sounds like it could be a favorite.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Oooooooooo, Hooley Doole is one of those "gotta have it"s. Awesome flower and cinnamon scent too! Cinnamon seems to suit that hot color well.

Geneva, FL(Zone 9b)

Thanks! :)

Michael, I have BEEN out of room, Man! I am sooooo out of room I am no longer adding anything unless it is extremely rare, in which case out goes a more common one --*The 'Bay beckons.......LOL) I gave away a few locally that were too big to send in the mail. That postal "Balloon Rate" is a killer when you try to send the big ones.

Brad

Cut them into 3 pieces and let the recipient do a top graft LOL!!
Im beginning to move some on as well.
I take a tip cutting first and graft it into my multi tree. ;^)
That way on 1 plant ill have 7 that were moved on. ;^)

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Michael has your multi tree bloomed yet? That has got to be a sight with all those different cultivars on one trunk. Can't wait to see that.

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

The individual trees have each bloomed
But not the multi tree.
I just started her this summer.
No blooms yet
Mrs. Malestrom and Giant Aussie Orange have taken nicely.
Yesterday I grafted in Madame Poni
Next is Lava Flow, if I can determine her growth habit to be fairly slow.
Ill spray the plant with a growth inhibiting horemone to keep her bush style and under 5 foot
I hope LOL!!
My grafting is getting better too
The union on GAO is awesome!!
Take a peek. ;^)

Mike i would say the lava flow is a slow grower compare to my other plumies...
