Chicken on Wild Rice

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Rinse 1 cup wild rice. Place in a heavy saucepan with 4 cups salted water and bring to a boil. Cover and bring to a simmer for 45 mins, or till tender.

Stir together till smooth, 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup and 1 cup of chicken broth. Dash of garlic powder.

Butter a casserole dish and spoon in the rice. Lay raw or cooked chicken breasts over that. Season. Pour the soup mix over all.

Bake, covered, 350* for 1 hour if chicken is raw. 40 minutes if the chicken is cooked.

This is the best smell to come out of the oven! Mushrooms, peppers, celery, etc. can be added to the rice.
